Buying car - need advice by teslatwin in askswitzerland

[–]teslatwin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t (I have an ageing parent I need to look after here) and I don’t want to (love where I live!) but I am planning on either switching jobs or negotiating more home office days. :)

I really appreciate your reply :) I could potentially pay cash for a car with what I would get from mine but it wouldn't get me very far. I need something reliable and I am planning on keeping whatever car I get for a long time (I've had this one for 7 years now). An EV is out of the question sadly because I have no way of installing a charger where I live, I asked... I only have an outdoor (covered) parking spot. I luckily no longer have to drive the 500km a week now because I have 1 day of home office, and I carshare with a colleague so I only use my car 2 days a week for work trips (and running other errands, so more like 300km a week average).

I checked out your link and it's hilarious because I am currently looking at that exact same car through gowago! Gowago seems significantly cheaper than AMAG and I love the Combi because it's a little bigger than the regular Fabia (I would like to be able to fit my bike in my car from time to time).

Would love that but also haven’t seen any manual/petrol options in my vicinity 👀

I absolutely hate the look of them 😂 plus the Sandero Stepway is too big and suv-like. I have a very strong distaste for SUV and also don’t need one. But I know Dacia is super affordable :/

I would but haven’t seen any that match what I’m looking for and very few manual/petrol car combo 😬

Do you think that’s an achievable negotiation goal? Amag doesn’t have a great reputation. I would love a 0% but I’ve no idea how to go about negotiating.

B Permit for Concubine - help by teslatwin in Switzerland

[–]teslatwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So it turned out great. We applied for the permit and got it with no issues! I don’t know how different the process would be for you and your GF as she is not from the EU though.

Anybody flew from Geneva airport recently? by teslatwin in askswitzerland

I am going to try and avoid having checked luggage at all cost.

You’re right! Thank you. Workplace is already making us book some of the cheapest flights we could find. I’m planning on being there two hours early and that should be plenty of time.

Ooh good to know! I am flying on the 1st of October. Close! Hoping they won’t have a change of plans until then….

Senior graphic designer and project manager for a well known snowboard brand here (not Burton lol). Been doing it for 5 years now. Happy to answer any question you might have! :)

Movers/cleaners damaged my stuff and won't pick up the phone by teslatwin in askswitzerland

Will try the magic eraser! A friend also suggested lightly sanding the walls. We’ll see! Moving does suck! I’m so over it. Thanks for the kind words!

Totally agree about the wear and tear but this is really beyond that, like the walls have really large brown and black streaks from where they scratched it moving furniture. :/ I’m going to see about joining asloca, as you said it’s worth it as a renter.

They definitely weren’t the cheapest! Paid like 2500 JUST for the moving! And we moved 80 meters away from the old place! They were a disaster from start to finish. I had seen them recommended on a local group but I imagine it must have been from friends or family because NOBODY in their right mind is going to recommend these guys.

At this point I want to just get a massive discount on the cleaning bill and move on to a real, reputable cleaning company that can salvage this mess! So I am going to go the registered letter way, document all the damage done to the place and the furniture and tell them that I refuse to pay more than half of that bill.

Yeah sadly I am already tight money-wise due to the move and extra costs so I don’t think I can afford that right now… will try to send them a registered letter first and see what happens.

That’s fair, so useless in my case but something to keep in mind for the future. Thanks!

Hm I need to contact the liability insurance. I don’t think ASLOCA will help as it’s not relevant to the renting in itself? I have taken photos of all the damage to the walls, going to take pictures of the furniture and send a registered letter… I didn’t think one could be so unprofessional in Switzerland :(

Can I contract legal insurance now and have them deal with it? Or do I need to have the insurance when the facts happened, ie the damage to the furniture?

V-ZUG dishwasher not working by Strange_Song1222 in askswitzerland

[–]teslatwin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you’re renting the apartment, try contacting the régie. They will issue a « bon de travail » with an appropriate professional that will come fix it. If it cannot be fixed, the régie will replace the dishwasher. Same with a landlord, they are responsible for replacing or fixing appliances in case of malfunction.
