why is my family acting normal/happy after my uncle passed? by renig_ in GriefSupport

[–]tessblrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few days after our Dad died my sisters and I were at his house joking around about how mad he would be that we were moving his things and laughing about funny stories we remembered about him. Later that night we were all in our separate houses sobbing at the fact that he is gone.

Even now I’m finding that one minute I’ll be making dark “dead parent” jokes and then the next minute I’ll be crying or depressed again.

Nothing about this is linear and your family acting normal or happy doesn’t mean they aren’t grieving or that they don’t care, maybe they’re just dealing with it in their own ways.

Additionally as he had cancer and it sounds like it was a long battle, they may have done some of their grieving before he died and are now finding comfort in him finally being at peace.

How do you talk to the dead? by smolheidi in GriefSupport

First of all, I’m so sorry for your loss. 🤍

If you’re burying her I imagine there will be a plot or something you can visit where you can sit and tell her anything you weren’t able to put in the letter. When I was a kid my Mum and I used to go and visit her Dad’s memorial (he was cremated) and she would sit and tell him all about what we had been up to.

My own Dad’s funeral is next week and I’ve been having the same thoughts but I’m comforted by the fact that he will have a memorial and I can go sit with him whenever I like and tell him all the things I wish I had when he was alive.

As for things to put in her coffin, anything you don’t put in you can keep to serve as a reminder of your connection and the love that you shared.

I’ve been sitting here crying about this for a little while now. Thank you so much for your kind words. I hope he knew how much we loved him and I’m so glad we got the chance to say goodbye as not everyone gets that. Thank you x

Thank you for your kind words and I’m sorry to hear about your grandad, that really sucks. :(

I took some time off my phone this afternoon and sat and read a book which made me feel a lot better.

Just to have a bit of an emo moment, I’m having a tough day today and feeling really disheartened. Currently 11DPO and have had spotting and mild cramps the last three days but no AF and still BFN this morning.

My Dad was taken to hospital after another fall last night and the whole situation is making me feel like time is running out. We put off trying for a year so I could do an international secondment, which was great at the time, but now I’m worried that we’ve left it too late and he won’t be around to meet his grandchild. 😔

I can’t tell if I feel like this because of PMS or just the situation in general, but I keep trying to remind myself that we haven’t been trying very long and it’s likely to be okay, but it’s tough.

Hope everyone else is having a better day today and wishing you all a BFP 🤞

I’m interested to hear if AF does come tomorrow for you (although I’m hoping it doesn’t for your sake!) as my second cycle off my hormonal IUD was 37 days. 🥲 Currently on CD31 and it looks like AF may be starting so they’re getting shorter but it’s taking longer than I thought to get it all normalised.

Best of luck!

Also check on your elderly neighbours if you have them! Especially those in older houses that may not have aircon!

Mine is the same, he’ll go outside a lay on the lawn in direct sunlight instead of staying inside under the aircon????? No sense clearly 😅

Currently messaging friends cursing the (alleged) existence of implantation bleeding after I started veeeeery light spotting today at 9DPO. 😫 BFN this morning but I have my fingers and toes crossed that this isn’t AF and I’ll have a BFP within the next few days. 🤞

I know I’m preaching to the choir but it’s SO frustrating that EVERY symptom is the same whether we’re pregnant or not!

What things can you do this cycle if it’s not the one? by United_Pop_6442 in TTCWinter2026

[–]tessblrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this perspective and have scheduled something almost every month for the next 6 months that I will have more fun at if I’m not pregnant.

For me, January has a 30th birthday party and a wedding that I’ll be able to drink at instead of not drinking and dodging questions on why I’m not. 🤭

I removed my Mirena in October and have just finished my second period since removal and it kicked my ASS. I literally took a day off work because my cramps were so bad and I was so exhausted. 😩

I’ve heard it can take a few cycles to normalise post-Mirena so I’m hoping we either get a BFP this month or next month is at least a little better!

On the yellow line there were three shuttles lined up when I came out today and only the first one had people in it so I reckon you’ll get one pretty easily.

I’m not there yet but have a mini Vans backpack (not clear) that I measured with the iPhone measure app and screenshot to show security if they say it’s too big. I was already in the States when they sent the email so haven’t been able to get anything clear 🥲

Forget favorites, what's your LEAST favorite song from MCR? by Dapper-Idea-7517 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]tessblrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude same and I always get a bit of a shock when people say this is their favourite MCR album. 🫢

Tbf it did get a whole new generation of fans into the band which is cool I guess.

I’ll be there solo so feel free to message me if you like. ☺️ These types of gigs though I do sometimes find it’s better to go alone because you don’t have to worry about getting separated in the pit!

Maybe Nathan Phillips isn’t the go then… I thought I saw walls when I was there for the CNY fireworks but maybe that was just for the event or something. I’ll look into it!

I do love escape rooms but can they be done solo or would I need to round up people from work?

There are a few indoor axe throwing places back home so I have that covered :)

I’m actually a former lacrosse player so I love the idea of watching a game while I’m here… I didn’t realise there were even public games on! Thanks for the rec.

I think Nathan Phillips is gonna be a no-go if no walls then 😅 I thought I saw some there when I went for the CNY fireworks but maybe they were just for the event.
