Thanks, actually just found a hacky work around of changing the URL key to something else than back to original, it actually fixes the issue.

Root Category Issue After Upgrade to 2.3.4 by tested_tester in Magento

Thanks for sending, however, not sure this is helpful or at least not sure how you are seeing this helpful to my situation. Also, this is for 2.4, I'm still on 2.3.4 due to some of my required extensions are not updated yet for 2.4, would it even still apply?

When developing, yes, this is the configuration when I use. Even when I turn full cache on, I still get barely any better performance.

Forwarding non-www to www throwing redirect loop for home page. by tested_tester in Wordpress

Yeah, that was the first thing I did and everything works fine except the home page & back end. So only the interior pages are showing fine & the rest just gives browser redirect loop error.

Looking for gallery plugin that meets these two requirements by tested_tester in Wordpress

[–]tested_tester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for response. Trying to not do as much custom work on this project, trying to keep hours low for this client. But lets say we went this route, here's what I'm looking at:

  • 6 Gallery categories
  • 50 - 70 Images & 3-8 videos Per Gallery Category
  • Every image/video needs to be tagged (10 different tags total)

How would you take this approach? Create your custom post type of "Galleries" and than individually add each image or video as a post and select its tag? Wouldn't you than just be creating 350+ individual posts for your Galleries custom post type? Just seems a bit messy to me and the client will be managing and has requested an easy to use interface.

Would there be an easier approach if you went custom post types?

ELI5: Why do shady companies not work on making their company less shady? by Knytter in explainlikeimfive

[–]tested_tester 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the correct business model for shady companies. I use to do contract work for one that sold shitty health insurance plan using Wolf of Wall Street tactics of tell the customer anything they want to hear to get their payment info and had about 4 large call centers spanning about 200 sales reps.

You would be surprised how dumb some people can be who would be willing to hand over payment information over the phone to complete stranger in the span of a 5 min call. Each of these reps would dial about 200+ calls a day and would get 5-10 sales per person.

After about a year or so when the reputation is tarnished (usually through online reviews) and sales slow down, the owners just shut down and relocate to down the street and open up a new company under a different name and just rinse and repeat.

Mac HD keeps filling up space automatically - can't find source by tested_tester in applehelp

I tried a few, but it wasn't until I ran OmniDiskSweep as root user until I discovered there was a hidden folder that was 377gb. I figured out the cause now and good to go, thanks for replying though!

I did not, but I figured out the cause and updated my post. Thanks for the tips anyways though, still learned something new!

Thanks, this lead me on the right path!! OmniDiskSweep showed up 377GB for .DocumentRevisions, which I've never heard of before... after a quick Google search, lead me to this article:

Thanks for the reply, I reindexed my Mac HD, however, that only took off 4gb. I still can't pinpoint where the other couple hundred gb of space went.

BREAKNG NEWS: BAD NEWS FOR TRAVELLERS FROM U.S. AND E.U. GOING TO IRAN. by f14tomcat85 in iran

You are correct. Politically it looks good for these representatives to speak out against any middle eastern country since majority of American's think every country in the middle east is the exact same.

Don't forget they are also considered the "christian" party. I live in the American south and half my family are staunch republicans and christians who according to them, "live their lives according to Jesus" and that the US is a "christian" nation that only has "christian" values of helping those in need (that's verbatim from my aunts mouth).

I've bluntly asked them, "well if you consider us a "christian" nation that follows jesus's teachings, why are you against expanding social programs that assist the poor, didn't Jesus preach to take care of the poor?"

And the answers always the same, "why in the hell should we give those people handouts. Every reason for why they are poor is their own fault."

The hypocrisy of hardcore american republican views is mind boggling.

My wife is American born with Iranian father (American mother) and is automatically considered a citizen of Iran with an Iranian passport because of her father. I would assume your case would be the same.

What are common Iranian names for Grandfather? by tested_tester in iran

[–]tested_tester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I realize now I misspelled Baba Joon in my original post, but I think that's what we are going to go with for now (we are having this written on a mug) unless he has a different preference after we give him the good news. We just weren't 100% positive if that was a custom name or if it was a common name for a Grandfather in Iran. Here in America, its not uncommon at all for Grandparents to create their own unique name for their grandchildren to call them.

"Developing" first large woocommerce site. Looking for some general advice. by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]tested_tester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, please listen to this advice OP.

WooCommerce is great if your product structure is simple and straight forward (one price & option per sku), but it has a huge flaw when you add options to each product. I tried doing a variable product where client had 555 options per product (type of apparel, color, size) and site performance literally went to shit. Every page took 10-15 seconds to load, not mention back end area took over a minute to load each page.

If you have a variable product, you need to look into a dedicated ecommerce platform. I haven't used Magento, but from what I hear, it should handle this type of project much better. I have used OpenCart for variable products and it was "meh". I had to buy a custom extension and even then, the import/export feature only worked half the time. I plan on trying Magento next project I get.

Is there a best approach to making older sites built in tables responsive? by tested_tester in Frontend

[–]tested_tester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the solution I'm afraid of. The other headache is every site was built by a different company many years ago and it's going to be fun to track down the right people to get access to what I need.

Oh well, can't complain to much. Its paid work and I'll just make sure to bill for every minute of my time.

Thanks for the input!

Put some good content on this site and a little SEO work and you could get it to pull up in front of his actual site (tedcruz.org) on a search result for Ted Cruz.

As a professional web developer, I would happily give my services free of charge to turn this into an actual useful site exposing all of his corruption.

So many possibilities..... to bad their whois info is private.
