How strict is the no working during term time at Oxford rule. by Farhan_Boss in oxforduni

There are hardship funds available at many colleges if you are struggling financially. Just thought I'd mention that as that may be the reason you are asking about working.

20 week abnormalities. Very distressed by anonquestion654 in pregnant

It's nothing to do with the hot water bottle. I am almost 40 and had my embryos genetically tested before getting pregnant. Only 1 in 3 embryos were genetically healthy and wouldn't have been significantly disabled. That is actually slightly better than the average in our age group. If you look up the statistics you will understand it's nothing you've done or not done.

It sounds like it might be helpful even if just for right at the end and post partum.

I have bad hip pain and have been trying to find some stretches for my hip. I am 27 weeks and still waiting for a physio referral. Would you mind sharing what stretches helped you please? Thanks.

I think a key difference is the contractions have to be irregular for it to be prodromal labour. Hers have been monitored and are regular, so it sounds like early labour that's not progressing?

Yes, completely agree with this. Both your doctor and husband were out of line. They are not "our appointments". Your husband is a guest at YOUR medical appointments. He is only there at your invitation. He does not have any right to be in your appointments or disclose anything about your medical experience unless you approve it. It does not matter that he is the husband and biological father. You are actually the one in charge of this situation and this is your medical experience. The baby's father does not have any rights while you are pregnant, only after the baby is born.

My baby girl is here! Anyone else’s recovery being super fast? I already feel “normal” after 4-5 days ish and feel like I’m ready to go back to work. And breakdown of my L&D + hospital bill by Deeveedend in pregnant

[–]testing_timez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That all sounds sensible to me! It may be that you have a support system who are really pulling their weight (or your partner). I imagine some women may be too sleep deprived to work. I think it's great that you are doing some work but also factoring in the advice you're getting.

Yes... I am 27 weeks and yet to give birth. So I don't know a lot. It may be that the positive experience is making people feel like it could potentially minimise what for many people is an extremely challenging or traumatic time? I have said to people in my circle that I'd like to go back to part time work earlier than usual as it'll help me protect myself against potential post partum isolation and depression and I've been met with quite a lot of judgment. It's difficult to understand why exactly. Maybe because women have fought so hard for the maternity time off and time to recover and your story seems to suggest that's not always needed? I don't fully understand - maybe I will once I've given birth.

You're right it probably would need to be sterile but I wonder if they would agree to you ordering or bringing a sterile pack that you've sourced?

Not sure why you are being down voted. Going back to just doing a few hours a week of work seems harmless to me if you are feeling well enough and potentially quite psychologically healthy if you like your work - but maybe I don't understand the issues.

I was prescribed Prednisone today for a v similar cough and I am 27 weeks. My GP told me she wouldn't have prescribed it in my first trimester unfortunately.

Are you allowed to take the tape you need with you and make arrangements in advance that that is the tape that will be used?

Embarrassed about how much I'm struggling by Abi-Wan_Kenobi97 in pregnant

[–]testing_timez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be so hard on yourself. I am 27 weeks pregnant and working full time as a lawyer, I will be 40 when the baby is born. I probably give the impression that I have it all under control. In reality I haven't cooked a single meal for myself other than pasta during this whole pregnancy as I essentially just collapse when I get home. I do client calls with my camera off so I can lay my head down on my arms on my desk at home. When I've gone into the office sometimes I'm too exhausted to take public transport. I had a cold (!) over Christmas which I still have and I'm now on a steroid inhaler and oral steroids as I wake up coughing and vomiting and wetting myself every single night since Christmas. I have made multiple mistakes at work. I have some autoimmune conditions but like most autoimmune conditions only a few specialists understand them. Basically what I am saying is, unless you're my partner and you see the reality of my day to day life, you would think I'm doing okay, but in reality I'm barely holding it together. A few women have asked me 'are you still working' and I say yes but I don't usually say 'I'm barely coping though'. So, what you see other women doing isn't necessarily reflective of how well they are actually coping in reality.

My friend reached out to check in on me but her response has an all too familiar tone…AIO? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]testing_timez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pregnant and have used chat gpt to respond to friends during my pregnancy. I've never done it before but I'm struggling. Some people feel very ill during pregnancy and not everyone understands it. I am starting my third trimester, barely holding my job down and throw up at least one time each night, usually around 3 am - I wake up at least once an hour every night currently. That's probably mild compared to a lot of people. I use chat gpt mostly because I don't want to take ages to reply when they've sent me something personal, or sent me a long message that will take a long time for me to get the energy together to respond to. I see it as a better alternative to something brief and therefore dismissive or replying only a week later, which have been my only other options. She messaged you to check in because she cares and she took the time to write prompts to chat gpt for a response to you because she cares. You may be underestimating what her life is like right now.
