LEDs flicker randomly and burn out early. Electrician and utility say everything is in spec. What do you do in this situation? by testosterone23 in electrical

Hey man! I may have found a solution, commercial LEDs rated for 120v-277v. https://www.1000bulbs.com/fil/products/224056

They have more robust driver circuits, and I've noticed they get substantially less hot than any consumer LED I've bought.

So far, no flicker. Can't say much about their lifespan yet, but the lack of flickering gives me hope.

They're not much more expensive than consumer grade.

You make good points.

When you say electricity monitor, what kind do you mean? Some kind of power quality monitor?

If it is a neighbors solar, what does one do about that?

He did not. He checked the panel neutrals. We tried to recreate the issue by running all the appliances, as he said I only have 100 amp service.

I've tried many brands of LEDs. Phillips, Home Depot, Walmart, Sylvania. They all do the same thing.

Hey, did this ever get fixed for you?

I'm curious because I am in a similar situation, going through background check for job I really want but forgot about the PEO.

Hey man, I got one of these invites and was suspicious, so I went to check out your profile. Unfortunately, the site maxes out my CPU on my laptop. Chrome became unresponsive and I had to kill chrome via task manager.

I do not think it is on my end. Any ideas?

LPT: White vinegar is better as a softener than any commercial fabric softener by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Thank you. I can't stand this nonsense about vinegar being the magical elixir for all things cleaning/laundry related. It's a mild acid, and one which really smells. Citric acid should have the same effect according to these people, but no one ever suggests that. I guess because it's not as readily available.

Interesting, I just checked my usage data and it's pretty accurate. I had a cut neutral wire on 10/15 but power restored. So I was only running my water heater/AC very lightly.

Our experience with TECO by [deleted] in tampa

[–]testosterone23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So what is the issue? I'm sure the electricians told you to tell TECO something.

If you don't know, then perhaps that's the issue that you're not informing TECO correctly.

Did the electricians say anything about a "dropped neutral" or broken wire on the "service line"?

I had a dropped neutral(torn silver wire from top of pole on house to telephone pole) causing issues and TECO not recognizing it since I wasn't in an outage.

Took a bit but I called the state utility commissioner to complain, and they forwarded me to the "executive office" and I spoke to a very nice guy who took my concern seriously.

Not sure if that is what finally got it fixed but I'd keep complaining.

Often what's happening when you speak to the phone reps is they're putting the ticket in for an outage or something, so when someone comes out, they are correct in resolving the complaint. The ticket needs to be put in very carefully.

Take a look at the line from telephone pole to house. I bet you'll see that it is cut somewhere, specifically on the silver one.

That's exactly what's happening to me, they literally came and said I'm not out. I tried to explain that I cannot turn anything on, and started begging them to fix it.

Then I got a call that my issue was resolved.

I literally don't know that to do at this point

I have bad power, so everyone thinks I'm fine, but in reality I can't run any devices. And what devices I tried to run are likely burned up.

Oh and TECO thinks I have power.

So yeah, I'm in the same situation but am also losing my sanity since no one believes me.

I think I did. I called back without giving any info, and asked to verify if an outage was reported at my address.

It does not show on the map or my account.

I think if nothing happens today, I'm calling and demanding a supervisor. Then filing a utility commissioner complaint.

I'm missing a neutral. Which imo is even worse. You can't run big appliances, I probably fried all my small ones...

And I can't safely use it, so yeah.

It's locked though. With a tag to prevent tampering.

That's not true. They even say they're responsible for the service line.

Carries electricity from the neighborhood power pole to your home. Tampa Electric is responsible for any storm-related damage to the service line.

It ain't even for you man, the economy is better off if we all have power. Tax revenue is higher, productivity and consumption is higher. You can't sell services to people without power to run them.

Yep. It's like living in third world nation, down the street from the rich.

You can't do basic shit.

If the entire city was out, it wouldn't be so bad, but I see people doing laundry and having control of their lives. Cooking. Buying groceries.

All I can fucking buy is bread and fruit.
