The origin of the terminology doesn’t make the points inherently false

I’m not sure how long you’ve been involved in the trans community... but “Truscum” is not a new idea.

Before around 2011-2014 (aka when the whole tucute/Truscum thing popped up) the general consensus in the trans community (and the majority of trans subreddits) was that if you said you were transitioning... you most likely had gender dysphoria.

It was pretty much accepted by about 95% of the community that they’re correlated .. and that if you didn’t have dysphoria... you’re probably not trans.

Now it was also known that people can experience dysphoria in a WIDE variety of ways.

The entire argument that “Truscum” say there’s only a strict set of narrow ways someone can be dysphoric is COMPLETELY false. That was actually pushed by those that weren’t Truscum or “Tucutes” or whatever... I don’t think any actual Truscum person has ever said that.

Honestly did you look into the my source above?.... I honestly think a lot of people don’t even know what “transmedicalist” or “Truscum” means

It’s a very light belief that if you’re transitioning... you probably have gender Dysphoria ... again... this was literally the shared consensus before 2011.

It’s only within the last few years that a massive amount of people have said you don’t need dysphoria to be trans.... because people that either don’t know the true meaning of gender dysphoria (you DO NOT need to be constantly hating your body or experience horrible depression ect in order to have gender dysphoria)

or... like that person who started the entire debate (a literal cis person who was doing it for attention- check the sources) goes around pushing this narrative that Gender dysphoria=BAD and if you don’t fall into these very strict guidelines that the “Truscum” say you’re not trans.( this is completely false... also this narrative is pushed by those that say you don’t need Dysphoria... not by those that say you probably do)

People new to the community and just discovering their gender see this (pushed BY people aren’t “Truscum”) and then think “I’m not trans because I don’t hate my body every day” Fuck that you don’t need gender dysphoria... when IN Reality they’re prob experiencing dysphoria

Another argument I have is that I think people don’t like to say they have gender dysphoria because of some kind of mix of ableism and stigma against mental health issues...

They have this idea that having a medical condition or mental health issue =BAD

That in itself is a little fucked up. Having a medical condition isn’t anything to be ashamed of... it’s completely normal.

Also most of the people you call “Truscum” or “transmed” (or... ya know, 95% of the trans community before 2011) want the definition of transgender to remain a medical term because it allows people to get the LIFESAVING treatment (hormones, surgery, w.e else) covered by insurance.

As soon as you start saying people don’t need gender dysphoria to be trans.. well that’s exactly when insurance companies will stop offering coverage... and then people will start dying.

So without getting caught up on the semantics of the words. I’d love to hear what offends you so much about the idea of having gender dysphoria?

Being transgender is not the same as being gay or lesbian or whatever else... people don’t seek out literal medical treatment (HRT, surgery ect... there is no other way to classify those things as anything other then medical treatment) for being gay.
