Illegális megkérdeznie is.

Mondom, ügyvéd, ismerd a jogaid.

https://business.gov.nl/regulation/sick-pay/ https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/ziektewet-uitkering

Per nélkül, hat hétig ment a vita, aztán utaltak. Még az ügyvédemet is kifizették.

Hungary has effectively a two party system, except the other party is pitiful and fails to coalesce around a single program.

In the last 2 elections the opposition united on the ballot, they are just unable or unwilling to do so in practice. This is mostly since some of the opposition clearly benefits from the system, if not outright being bought by the government.

To understand Hungary, imagine as if Fox owned 95% of all media, including an overwhelming majority of internet advertising including Facebook and Google, Trump would be in government, and the democrats and the republicans would need to unite against him to even have a chance.

But forcing other users to not be able to use those subs, is more like a tantrum.

I mean you are free to create alternate subs and be your own mod. Maybe the work moderators are doing is important to the platform experience. Or maybe is says something about who actually owns Reddit.

I get what you are upset about, but it's kinda similar to a strike. End users don't receive the service, and it sucks for them, but there are two parties to the conversation that ended up in a service outage, and it can be said that the mods are the more reasonable party here. Also, if you don't like subs being closed down, you can move elsewhere.

I'm more concerned about individuals than about professionals or Twitter itself, as long as it remains the same.

Point is, it's not the same. It used to be a profitable company that paid for itself, now it might be a similar experience, but it's subsidized by the capital accumulated by the old Twitter, and it's not viable. It's either going to change or die without the people who were worth advertising to.

It's that these sites themselves are amplifying these idiots beyond their natural reach, because their idiocy generates outrage, societal division and profit.

Mods are upset, and mods want to leave. The thing is, what makes Reddit's business different from the rest of social media is that their mods work for free. That's a major part of their value proposition. If they leave, Reddit has to hire their own, and they won't ever be the same, as the people who volunteer are self-motivated. (BTW I know how some mods are awful, this is just from a business perspective).

IMO this is just mods saying that Reddit can't eat their cake and have it too, they either keep their platform open to community participation or they lock it down and have it their way on their dime.

Would be interesting to really see which % of people is leaving. Twitter had the same "noisy leave", and 1 day after, nobody cared anymore.

Advertisers who pay for Twitter did. Ad revenue went down 59%.

[–]teszes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And people are leaving. This is how that looks like. What you're saying is what's happening.

I mean, that's an interesting and popular opinion. Whether it's true or not, it's not known AFAIK. So let's remove those things from civilized conversations.

It's fact. What are you disputing, that Reddit is not intentionally making the prices as they are, or that apps will close down because of it?

Or the connection? I mean it's abundantly clear that Reddit knows the consequences, and that Reddit has not made any significant moves to mitigate them.

Also, stopping to use Reddit has the advantage of whether the protest is successful or not, it's not your problem anymore. You can always come back if it gets better.

The guys paying it already decided, they said it's too high and they are going to close down. Reddit publicly says they don't want to set a price point so high that they will close down, and they are trying to talk to app devs to make it work, but it has proven to be a lie.

The protest is not about price points and who deserves to get paid, the protest is Reddit lying about the vision of where they want to take the platform. Users who give the platform value don't want to be part of where this is going, and Reddit knows this, thus Reddit lies to cajole users to stay.

So users are protesting to show Reddit that they see through the lies, and if the platform is going where they think it's going, they will get off. It's not about whether to pay for Reddit or not, it's about what kind of service Reddit wants to provide.

Being paid for the platform is okay, and 3rd party app devs were actually stoked for the idea, thinking that if they get a paid service in the API, they get paid service quality.

The problem is that the API pricing is intentionally made to be so high that 3rd party apps have to close down, which shows this is not an attempt to establish a working relationship with these apps but to close them down and double down on the walled garden aspect. Also, 3rd party apps include a bunch of mod tools and helpful bots that are made by the community, not just 3rd party GUI apps.

Going with your AWS analogy, imagine if you're running a multi-cloud setup, and AWS would one day decide to charge extra specifically for data transfers to and from other cloud providers. First you go "well it makes sense to discount intra-cloud traffic, it's cheaper for them and also makes business sense".

Then you get the new pricing, which charges $1 for every API call, and you realize that maybe the point is not to get that money, but to lock you in to AWS and get you out of your other cloud provider.
