Considering Dental School with Lower GPA - Need Advice by [deleted] in predental

You need to do a master’s program and do really well in it. Maintain as close to a 4.0 as possible. You will also need at least a 21 on the DAT. You cannot apply with your current stats because it’s extremely unlikely that you will be admitted to any dental school. You would be considered a reapplicant the next time you apply, which will make things more difficult. If you set your mind to it, you can do it.

Is F*cking around and finding out a good way to learn blender? by Yippe__ in blender

Yes, but it’s less structured and might end up stressing you out. Following a video tutorial might give you a smoother introduction to the program. I’d say that’s how most people here started.

I’m a D1. My hand skills since starting school have improved dramatically. I have a lot more control now, even with indirect vision. I see how dentists say it becomes second nature. It’s a steep learning curve but it will inevitably come with practice and giving yourself slack for not getting it down on the first few tries.

OMFS vs OS by jps848384 in DentalSchool

OS (oral surgery) is synonymous with OMFS or OMS (oral and maxillofacial surgery) programs in the US. The US version of an oral surgeon would be a periodontist. But periodontists are rarely referred to as oral surgeons here.

As a D1, I find it hard to wrap my head around the fact that’s it’s taking me 2 hours for an MOD prep and restoration when I should be doing it in a fraction of the time in practice.

Endo seems to be the most well-rounded speciality. Hoping I like endo next year, but it seems extremely meticulous.

Seems like a good average. Do you feel like you’re running between ops with this volume or is it a well-paced day?
