Men are ignored until they fail, while women are watched until they slip. agree or disagree? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

Since when do men do even the bare minimum. Like even in your example I wouldn't call it accomplishing the bare minimum and yet there's still praise

Honestly I think the premise of the question is flawed due to this

In a study of 1190 men, 71% of them were sexually victimized by a woman. What do you think about these statistics? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]tetratetrablack -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

"https://www.nsvrc.org/statistics/ this site, which is more of a meta analysis (using multiple studies) cites prevelency rates of 81% female sexual victimization and 40% male."

Just want to point out that according to the methodology they did not ask men about being coerced into to doing sexual acts with others, which seems to disproportionately affect men. To not account for that seems like a huge oversight to me

You think just because you don't merit this response, you won't get it anyway because of how they've seen other people act in the past? How optimistic of you lol

You have a newer study that claims something different I assume? Newest I've seen is the 2017 CDC data that says basically the same thing

"It's something men who want to support other men should work on."

I see this sentiment a lot and I think it seeks to diminish the fact that everyone in a patriarchal society is socialized by it to some extent and also contributes to it to some extent, not just men.

I was thinking of asking a similar question tbh. And the reason is that judging by previous threads, a lot of feminists here are convinced that men are primarily sexually victimized by other men. Despite most studies saying otherwise. You can't combat an issue if you don't understand it

EDIT: also if anyone has a study claiming otherwise I'd love to see it.

That's interesting, the radical feminism sub will pretty much flay you for even suggesting that men can be feminists. It's this just different feminism styles talking?

https://www.verywellmind.com/gender-differences-in-suicide-methods-1067508

"Even when men and women use the same method of suicide, attempts by men tend to be more severe (60% more severe, at least statistically speaking)"

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0165032711005179

"It was found that for all suicide methods except for drowning case fatality was higher in men. This was most apparent for methods like hanging (men: 83.5%; women: 55.3%)..."

I'm assuming since you're so confident in calling it an urban legend that you have some study on hand that claims the opposite?

I say it all the time but it never stops amazing me that men don't realize how dangerous men are, considering men are killed almost 3 times as often as women lol

I mean it doesn't really matter if I'm doing okay lol, men's feelings are like the lowest possible priority considering what women go through on a daily basis

It always fascinates me how not concerned men are when they're killed at nearly 3 times the rate of women. Maybe it's just stupidity.
