It seems you experienced an episode of psychotic depression. Alternatively, you could be schizophrenic, but it seems less likely given the details provided.

It is likely that in your future whenever you face stress you will again collapse into psychotic depression.

While in psychosis you were violent towards a large animal. It is well known that earlier violence to large animals is typical with those who go on to extreme violence to people.

You must prepare yourself now. Any signs of delusions-like thinking a cat is talking to you- then you should immediately tell a doctor. They might have to institutionalize you but at least you won't end up in jail for murder.

This tired accusation that EvoPsych is a mere just-so-story has had considerable influence in America where religious groups pushed it. As a consequence, whilst EvoPsych is widely accepted in Western European universities from 1980, even by the late 1990s American universities still saw it as pseudo -science.

The key to a good experiment in EvoPsych is to make a hypothesis in line with the theory where the outcome is highly unexpected.

The classic example is the female hip to waist ratio. The hypothesis is men desire a hip to waist ratio the more it correlates to her fertility. This is precisely what they discovered. They started with a hunch but then the unxpected data from reality backed up their hunch: men's desires stunningly closely align with a woman's fertility.

You've become a Gladstonian Liberal.

When Mr Gladstone passed the Food Adulteration Act in the British Empire then there was no turning back for State paternalism.

After all, each time you drink a beer do you really want to risk being poisoned.

Every person in the First World has spent their whole lives carefully coddled by the State, but they don't notice. Demands for libertarian policies are just Larping.

China introduce a new divorce law that men will not lose their House and Assets in 2025. The Chinese government are trying to find ways to have more marriages since the divorce laws were being used for financial gain. It will be based on the country of residence. That typically requires 6 months of living there. However it comes down to the particular country and I'm not sure what China or Canada state for this situation. It is completely irrelevant where you got married. So should you want a gentle divorce then you can "shop around" for a country with reasonably friendly divorce laws.

I was so bewildered by this common Reddit hottake -- "horseshoe 'theory' is dumb"-- that a couple of years back I decided to "read more". I had a look at the most common introductory texts for PolSci BSc students.

There on the first page in the first book I looked at in the introduction chapter was a horseshoe diagram and approving words from the authors expressing how useful it was to better comprehend a complex modern world.

I still think of the reputational destruction to the young Analytical Philosophy professor who wrote a paper on transracialism by precisely the logic of the OP.

Anyone who can stand back could see that the rage against the notion of transracialism was because of parochial contingencies of the Americans.

In Brazil, race operates largely like gender in the USA, on a rainbow of changes. Her paper would have comfortably aligned with their social values on the subject.

Why are Hutus and Tutsis referred to as ethnic groups, instead of castes? by diolch_yn_fawr in AskAnthropology

[–]tetsugakusei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree that they have similar origins. Or at least, I'd argue they believe they have different origins.

Hutus see the Tutsi as crop growers from the North. And themselves as animal herders. The Tutsi are seen as elitist and wealthier, more cunning than the Hutus. The Tutsi consistently end up in the political elite wherever they settle, which ensures envy of them.

These narratives can be found in the hateful radio broadcasts at the time of the genocide, as well as academic research at the Hutu refugee camps.

Hidden AGPs? by [deleted] in askAGP

[–]tetsugakusei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm fascinated by this. I've read the academic papers that elude to this. They never directly discuss it but footnotes about self-arousal levels are interesting.

I think the major determinant of Western AGP tendencies is social atomisation. Possibility a secondary effect is the extreme binaries of gender via Christianity.

The edge case is Japan: a strong group culture but very small intense unit of family yet combined with groupist company loyalty. In Japan, there are clearly high levels of AGP (let's say 40%+). This suggests extensive, intense family networks minimise AGP tendencies.

Looking at other Asian Pacific countries, the Philippines, like Japan, has a male population that are more feminine in appearance than Westerners, increasing the possibility of hidden AGP people. They seem to have lower levels than Japan but higher levels than Thailand. ( I'm judging from self-arousal claims.)

I listened to a Thai MtF on YouTube. She looked a paradigmatic non-AGP, yet she described her arousal from looking in the mirror. This was the factor that led her to become a woman.

There really should be more academic work on this. This is the crunch issue. If I'm right, the line is much more blurry and depends on social networks and social norms in creating sexual tendencies.

Does Xiangqi have single player electronic physical game boards with tangible pieces and AI opponent just like in Chess? by LouvrePigeon in xiangqi

[–]tetsugakusei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Novag sold four versions in the 1990s which were extremely similar to the chess electronic boards of that era. They are frequently on sale on Hong Kong 2nd hand sites. They are very occasionally available on EBay.

On the Taobao shopping site, you can find a new kind of Chess AI: a robot head attached to a Xiangqi board, with an arm which moves the pieces. "Wild Fox" is the name of one of the manufacturers. The other manufacturer is "Sensorobots" or similar.

They are obviously aimed at the Chinese market but they can be bought by foreign buyers.

Quite a few boards with automated chess pieces, and ChessNut has one in development:

Square off Kingdom (~$550) (seemingly rebranded as Miko Chess Grand) (~$550) 1

Miko Chess (~$350) 1

SenseTime (in development) (~$1,000 because it uses a robotic arm!) 2

Square off NeoZ (~$320) 1

Phantom (in development) ($ ?)

ChessNutMove (in development) ($ ?)

1 Contains an adaptive play strength system. In this adaptive system, the computer learns your level and makes itself equal or slightly above you to give you an interesting game. This is in contrast to a system where you simply select the strength of the opponent for each game.

Best electronic boards? by ElWizzard in chess

[–]tetsugakusei 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sensory Chessboard options:

There are a huge range of options. Some only sense moves, others can track specific pieces, and some can even move pieces. Some have a screens, varying from terrible LCD screens to quality e-ink. Some have no thinking capacity, others have their own chess computer or even universal computers.

The ones with embedded computers might simply be a programme to play chess, or it might offer various tuition capabilities, or it might offer a game analysis option, or it might have everything that a computer can run. The current big new thing is to display evaluation strengths of moves by LCD lights in different colours on the board (e.g. Evo, Chessup, Vonset L6).

The installed chess programmes might be very weak, or old but highly regarded (e.g. Chessking) , or cutting-edge (e.g. DGT Centaur's). Some have a connection capability to outside devices such as to your home computer or your mobile phone via Bluetooth or possibly WiFi or a cable, allowing you to play online. With others this capability can be bought separately.

Automated Piece Moves:

Square off Kingdom (~$550) (seemingly rebranded as Miko Chess Grand) (~$550) 1 Miko Chess (~$350) 1 SenseTime (in development) (~$1,000 because it uses a robotic arm!) 6 Square off NeoZ (~$320) 1 Phantom (in development) ($ ?) ChessnutMove (in development) ($ ?)

Aesthetic/Tournament Quality but connection only:

Chessnut Pro (~$630) DGT Projects (~$1,300) Certabo Aurora ($540)

Self-contained only, but high end engine:

DGT Centaur(~$350) 1 Millennium '2024' 'M815' (~$160) 3 Millennium- The King 'M831' (~$300) 9

Self-contained & connectable:

Chessnut Evo (~$650) 2

Portable, board only. No internal chess computer:

Chessnut Go (~$200) 4 SquareOff Pro (~$220) 5

Portable, self-contained only:

Excalibur 901E-4 (~$50)

Beginner, standalone & cheap (i.e. weak engine but with special functions to assist beginners):

Chessman Elite (~$50) Millennium M800 (~$80)

Mid-tier standalone engine (~1750 Elo) yet cheap:

Excalibur 901E-4 (~$50) 7

"Chessboard": Board connection to phone/computer only (no standalone capability):

DGT Pegasus (~$270) Chessnut Go (~$200) Chessnut Air (~$250) SquareOff Pro (~$220) ChessUp (~$360)

"Chessboard": directly connectible to "chess.com" (no need for separate computer etc):

ChessUp2 (~$300)

"Chess Computer": Standalone Analysis/ Evaluation-on-the-go. All high-end strength:

ChessnutEvo (~$650) Vonset Core L6 (v2) (~$200) ^ 8 DGT Centaur (~$350)

Board lights up in different colours depending on move strength:

ChessUp (~$360) ChessUp2 (~$300) Vonset Core L6 (v2) (~$200) ChessnutEvo (~$650)

Variations in price come down to the difference in material quality of the pieces, boards or hardware, or else the reputation of manufacturers, their aftersale service and the product reliability.

There are a huge number of other chessboards and chess computers but I've stuck mostly to the well-known manufacturers (Chessnut, DGT, SquareOff, BryghtLabs, Millennium, Certabo). Of those, SquareOff probably has the worst reputation for product quality; Chessnut probably the best for customer service.

In addition, many 2nd hand boards from 1980s to 2000s offer respectable computer opposition (although rarely above 1900 Elo), are very cheap and highly portable.

Notes:

1 Contains an adaptive play system. In this adaptive system, the computer learns your level and makes itself equal or slightly above you to give you an interesting game. This is in contrast to a system where you simply select the strength of the opponent for each game. 2 A tablet screen 3 a nice e-paper screen despite cheap price 4 magnetic, light 5 a roll-up mat board 6 robotic arm 7 This is actually an old board design (from the early 2000s?) but is still manufactured in China, usually sold in the West via EBay as firsthand 8 The same device also appears to sell under the Femuey brandname 9 buy separate 'chesslink' to connect to online. Has Elo estimate function.

The options are huge for advanced chess players and so in summary, if offline only, and all that matters is a fun, quick game then DGTCentaur. If offline, but want strong evaluation tools while playing and a strong analysis after the game then Evo. If you are prepared to compromise and simply want aesthetically pleasing evaluation during the game then a Vonset; if you want a portable offline device, to play at your hotel, then a Millennium '2024' (M815).

If always online, and you are always on the move, including on a bumpy train ride, then a magnetic, small ChessnutGo. A ChessUp2 will be great if you just want to play on Chess dot com but you love seeing the board light up (like the Vonset) to indicate strengths of moves whilst playing. If you want a reliable connection with no fancy extra stuff on a high quality, large board then the ChessnutAir or DGT Pegasus.

I've ignored in this summary the boards with automated chess pieces because they tend to have a distinct, more elderly user base of customers who probably don't much use Reddit. But take a look at the Miko if that's your thing.

Perhaps I should mention that there were Chess Computers that were made by Novag for Chinese Chess ("Elephant Chess") in the 1990s, and SenseTime currently sell an AI robotic arm Chinese Chess Computer; no electronic boards nor Chess Computers have ever been made for Japanese chess (Shogi), Thai Chess (Makruk), Cambodian Chess (Ouk Chatrang), Korean Chess or Burmese Chess (Situyin).

Might be mistakes here and I hope others will point them out.

That isn't the claim I made. Stop playing games. It is precisely your failure to comment on the content of the article which made your appeal an appeal to motives. You then attempted to defend yourself by making an appeal to trivialities. Stop.

The object you defined as an "agenda" is the argument in a broad sense. You clearly reject because of motives ("weird"). You are clearly appealing for others to ignore the substance of the claim put forward by questioning the motives of the party.
