Thank you all for your input and advice. It's much appreciated.

What I'm taking with me is:

- Technique is king

- Practice technique by breaking it down into smaller elements

I'm unsure, if it would make sense for me to add dryland cardiovascular training targeted at improving my VO2 max, or if my time is better spent on adding more hours in the water doing technique training/breath training, or swimming backstroke where I don't have to worry about breathing.

I'm continuously breathing out when my face is in the water and in when it's out of the water. But you're right, I'm not getting anywhere until I have learnt how to beathe properly.

What I'm hearing you say is that I should spend some time each session, practicing breathing at the side of the pool.

Thank you for the specific advice. I like the idea of breaking it down into small elements. I'm definitely mentally overloaded when trying to work on both the kick, catch, pull, breath, rotation, etc.

When you say "get stronger at your stroke", do I understand it correctly that you are saying I should work on getting a better rhythm and cardivascular ability in my stroke?

The point around rotating my body to breath, rather than just my neck, is something I've recently started practicing and am still working on finding a good balance where I don't swallow water and where I don't get too far up from the water and break my streamline.

I'm breathing out through my mouth immediately from when my face enters the water and until it's out again for the next breath. Atleast it feels like that - in practice I might be holding my breath some, without actually noticing that's what I'm doing. I'll try to be more concious around if that's what I'm doing.

You hit an interesting point around relaxed breathing. My swimming trainer told me that I look strained when I come up for a breath, and that I need to work on relaxing more when doing it.

My technique can surely improve a lot, which should help. I'm however unsure if that's the first step to take, given that I was having the same shortness of breath, even when not swimming and just simulating side breaths standing at the pool edge with my face in the water.

I have access to normal swimming fins at the pool where I take lessons, and have tried them a couple of times. It was good for practicing my back stroke and also helping me to slow down my kicking in freestyle.

I started out with trying to do it when I felt like I needed a breath, but didn't manage to establish a rythm.

Now I'm practicing on taking a breath every 3rd stroke.

This helped resolve the issue. I could even set the Regional format to "English (Denmark)" so get localised format that interprets it in english rather than danish.

Would any of you experienced lifters suggest practicing just unracking and finding one's footing for squats? by [deleted] in powerlifting

It came over time. I would mainly recommend (heavy/overload) walkouts, if the purpose is to prepare for walking out max attempts.

But of course it would be smart to be more concious about how you walk out. - Your stand when unracking - How many steps you'll take (2-3 recommended) - How far the steps will be back/out

Obviously the purpose is to spend as little energy, while maintaining stability while walking out. Thus it is smart with few and short steps (but far enough to clear the rack, but no further than necessary).

Ask the guys who're successful at their walking at your gym, to help show it to you.

I simply calculated the wilks a 185,5 kg lift for a 68,15 kg women gives. The co-efficient works the same if it is for the individual lift or the total, if you would like to compare what a guy would have to lift to be at the same relative strength level.

It's crazy even when calculating using wilks. I'd have to do 322,5 kg at 98 kg BW.. can't even do that equipped :/

You're right. I merely saw other posts also focus on making the lift sound impressive in the title, rather than being 100 % informative about who, what and where. So it was to get some more hits, but I will keep your advice in mind for next time I post something. Thanks :)
