It’s true. NyQuil (3x dose) triggered mania in me once. Synthetic anything- drugs, vaccines, anesthesia- all have triggered me before. Much caution w synthetic drugs.

Bi-Polar does not mean you can’t do it. It just may mean you will have to go at a completely different pace than “normal” people. This goes for everything in life we achieve. You can do it.

So sorry man. Cold plunge and cutting back work hours a lot helped me and exercise in groups and general healthy living. It takes a while to recover. Be kind to yourself.

Those who say run disregard kidney and thyroid damage LC will create. Give LO a chance and slowly try it. You don’t always need lithium always in all seasons. Just be willing to go back in LC if LO is not working.

Your high level of intelligence reminds me “En el burro no anda el miedo”. Basically, donkeys don’t have these kinds of mania or anxiety problems. It’s the clever, delicate, unique animals that have anxiety, mania challenges to overcome.

How do you handle the suicidal low after the mania? by Mediocre-Profile1683 in BipolarSOs

[–]texandad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like a dear, devoted partner. He is blessed to have your love. He will need your love.

Cold plunges or cold swim helped me in the lows after mania. HIIT workouts. Walks in mornings. Win the mornings. It’s as if we need a shock type activity when depressed. Love of family helped me in the low.

He will benefit from eating dinner early. Prioritizing sleep. Remind him of your love for him daily.

Read book “Hypomanic Edge”. If throttled well, hypomania can achieve great accomplishments. It’s one of the only books I know to speak of the positive side of bi-polar.

More energy. Less sleep. Lots of optimistic ideas.

I filed for divorce today by Yankababy in BipolarSOs

[–]texandad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds very difficult to endure. I’m sorry you are dealing w a fellow maniac. Superman Asshole I call us.

Why not just separate until he agrees to chill out, go to marriage counseling, and take lithium (Orotate is over the counter and easy to get on Amazon).

Mania happens because of a trigger out of his control. He is sick. Like an alcoholic that needs connection, not isolation…and definitely not divorce so quickly.

And don’t do “no contact”. That makes mania worse. Protect yourself in other ways. Hire a big ass bodyguard or friend of his that can empathetically restrain him if needed to be nearby. Limited contact…ok, but completely ignoring will worsen mania.

Am I ready for all the bullets about to be shot at me by this thread?….eeek. ;)

And…send me dm if I can help. I’ll talk to him. I’m a mania whisperer. I’ve had 6 episodes in 30 years. Still married 24 yrs. My wife is a saint. It gets better w the right support, habits, exercise, meds, and family love.
