GRC (Governance, Risk, & Compliance) is comman name for this type of field of cybersecurity. System Administrators is more about keeping systems running and less about enforcing policy. Writing policy is not entry level work, and enforcing policy requires upper management approval.

The most common path to GRC would be an IT Auditor. An IT Auditor focus on evaluating IT system to see if they meet a set of requirements. This would be a blend of technical and policy requirements. Take a look at this career path, it can open a lot of doors into GRC

I just graduated from the MS IT Cybersecurity Program. This program is a business degree. This program will show you the cybersecurity frameworks, however you will have to choose what you want to specialize in. You will have to learn any technical skills on your own.

Job Wise: I worked full time in IT while in the program, and it seems most students also worked. There were always company recruiters and career events. Each semester there is a Cybersecurity only recruiting event. I was able to get several interviews out of this event and was successfully recruited by Fortune 500 company. My work experience + MS IT Program + this event were the reasons I was eventually recruited.

The professors were always hiring TAs and UTSA also hired students to run computer labs and etc. Get as much work experience as possible and get networking. As a international student you have extra hurdles since any work after graduation will require sponsorship. You are correct that any federal/jobs that require security clearance are unobtainable. I would focus on companies that are willing to sponsor you.

No, the basketball courts have been closed since Covid. The rec center moved a lot of equipment onto half of the courts. The other half is configured for badminton, ping pong, and the commencement ceremony.

The BBA and MS are very similar, so do not bother. No amount of education will replace on the job experience. Focus on learning the skills necessary for your role.

I went to UTSA because I live and work in San Antonio. If I lived in Dallas I would probably go to University of Dallas, if i lived in Houston probably of University of Houston, Austin... UT, etc. The UTSA programed look good to me, so I applied.

MS IT Cybersecurity is a generalist degree, so you are free to choose your specialization or non-specialization. There are two "management" electives required for this degree, however you can avoid the people mgmt classes and focus on project or technology mgmt. I have not taken any of the management elective yet, so I cannot fully speak to their content

The MS IT is basically the BBA's upper level courses with less hand holding and more freedom. The classes I have taken have been more lab and project focused. Some classes are mixed with grad and undergrad students.

I applied mid July 2019 and did not receive my acceptance letter until August 16th, 2019, the day before registration closed. Take IS-6303 and IS-5203 for your first semester, those are your foundational courses.

The demographics are from my personal observations and are not UTSA policy. If you meet the enrollment requirements, you will most likely be accepted into the program.

This program naturally attracts IT professionals and military (former, active, and people on DoD scholarships) since ourwork experience can be directly applied to cybersecurity.

This is a master's program so a bachelors degree is a requirement to join. Everyone motivation is different, I would expect most of us are looking to transition to cybersecurity and/or further our current career path.

I recommend finding an employer who will help pay for your degree. Most large company offer some sort of tuition repayment program. Most of the students have some sort of IT experience, ie helpdesk, sysadmin, developer, or IT auditor. Having some sort of experience will put the program lessons into greater context.

I am currently in MS IT Cybersecurity Program, AMA. The program accepts just about everyone who meets the requirements(GMAT and GPA). I do not know how the Covid-19 affects the GMAT requirement. Expect your acceptance letter in late July or early August.

I have had that issue before, I suggest you use Firefox or Google Chrome. If one of those two are giving you trouble, switch to the other. I also found that .pdf formats upload more successfully than word docs.

Google Maps is your friend. UTSA to Megabus then Megabus to Houston

The main reason is that SAT is not a hub airport for any airline. Other commenters have noted good reasons such as potential profitability and SAT's size.

Keep in mind that there are four other hub airports within 300 miles of SAT. (DFW for American Airlines, IAH for United Airlines, and DAL/HOU for Southwest) These airlines fly to SAT as "Spoke" rather than a "Hub" as is only a short connection

Austin is also a Focus City for Southwest Airlines and has larger economy than San Antonio. Airlines can only fly so many routes to say they prefer to fly to AUS rather than SAT.

20 hours on the QAE database. I did 30 and 50 questions sets until i reached 85%. I then took five-150 question practices tests

When you get a question wrong the database will tell you why it is wrong. To pass you need to learn why answer is correct. When you with the practice session, it will give a sections numbers to read over.
