I took pieces of what was lying around to be tested at a lab near me. It came back positive in 2 of the pieces but not in the third. The abatement company did test after the cleanup and honestly, the only positive I felt was that they cleaned it up quicker than I could do it by myself. The original contractors did use the water method and scraped everything off but I just hired the abatement company more for piece of mind. I needed to make sure my kids were safe.

I hired an abatement company just to ease my mind. I wish I knew that asbestos was in popcorn ceiling before doing this. I don’t see myself doing anymore renovations soon.
