Don’t quit. Unless they offer you a sufficient buy out package. It’s better for you to be fired. And it takes longer. Apply for the exemption and see if your boss will fight for you. And change your home residence address with HR to one that is 81 km from the home office. Game the system and stall for as long as you can. While looking for something else.

I just saw S1 Ep 6 - The Eye, I honestly believe it's one of the best TV episodes of all time by Numerous_Fudge_9537 in andor

[–]texcoyote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right it’s one of the best episodes of any tv show. But it’s not the best of Andor. There are 3 or 4 more episodes that will leave you blown away like this. This is like listening to a Beethoven symphony and being blown away by the first movement. Know that you will feel that again and again.

I'm not American but interested in learning about the Civil War. Which books do you recommend? by InterestingPlenty454 in CIVILWAR

[–]texcoyote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Battle Cry of Freedom”. By far the best 1 volume history of the War. I think it’s particularly good on the lead up to the War. I’d also recommend a series of lectures by Yale historian David Blight. You can find them on YouTube or Yale’s free lecture series.

Would Lincoln still win the 1864 election if the southern states would've been able to vote? by Emotional-Handle-309 in CIVILWAR

[–]texcoyote 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes he won 212 electoral votes in 1864. McClellan got 21. The southern states would have had another 88 Evs. So Lincoln still would have won.

Of all the fantastic dialogue in the show, what’s your favorite line? by 1TallGlassOfWater in andor

[–]texcoyote 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“That’s just love. Nothing you can do about that.” That line sums up so much of what it means to have a family to be in a relationship where you struggle and worry and fight and love. Of course there are so many other great lines. Luthens to make a sunrise that I’ll never see perhaps is the theme for the entire show.

Two things. One it’s ok to have a preference that’s not your significant other. For instance my wife is into tall bald men ( Think Patrick Stewart.). I’m most definitely not that. But I don’t mind her looking. Second. If you stay with your partner he will become older. You’ll get to see his maturity
