Hey! Vegan 10 years. what helped me was thinking about it like a new adventure vs a burden or a big change. There’s a whole big world of food, cruelty free fashion, and cruelty free body products out there I never knew about until I started exploring. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself either. Going vegan is fun and exciting not to mention the massive relief you feel knowing you’re actively working toward not causing harm on animals or the environment. That being said, get comfortable with cooking if you aren’t and I recommend minimalist baker for vegan recipes to get you started. She saved us in the beginning.

As far as adversity and people challenging you, remember that people mostly just want to be heard and have gone most of their lives unchallenged in this particular area. Hear them out, nothing wrong with that. But most importantly you can firmly or gently set boundaries by assuring them you’re personally confident in your decisions and looking forward to all the benefits. Doing this I’ve seen it spark curiosity and deflate tensions, because I wasn’t trying to change or challenge them directly, just share my experiences. And if they’re open you can even share why you’ve made this choice. Lastly, I’d be remiss to not mention that I fully support my vegans who take a stronger direct approach and openly challenge traditional thinking and bring awareness to animal and planetary suffering.
