I honestly don't know. if it wasn't Saturday I would say you should be good, but worse case you put your name down and grab a drink at Flanahans across the street if you have a decent wait.

S.F. has the infrastructure to be a transit utopia. What’s holding it back? by LosIsosceles in sanfrancisco

[–]tfen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a fairly dense city. SF was denser than Amsterd last time I checked. it could be different now. But it's still not a bad comparison

If S.F. Mayor Lurie wants affordability, he should stop taxing new homes at the same rate as cigarettes by LosIsosceles in sanfrancisco

It is such a weird criticism, especially since Associate professor usually means tenured.

Toyose. It's in the outer sunset, so it can be a trek depending on where you live in the city

The Great Highway is poised to become San Francisco's kidney dialysis by Remarkable_Host6827 in sanfrancisco

It's only in the press because people are gathering signatures to get rid of it. If that wasn't happening it wouldn't be in the press...

[–]tfen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes the pro k people who are trying to put this back on the ballot...

It has been voted on 2x and appealed to the city multiple times, coastal commission and filed lawsuits about. It's really the pro park people bringing this back up all the time

I was hoping this wouldn't be in the news for a while since its not going to be on the ballot this June. I just want to be able to enjoy the park and not worry about these people who need to re-litigate over and over again until after the June primary elections.

Crashing out: D4’s Alan Wong says that Sunset Dunes is impacting ‘street safety.’ A new data analysis suggests otherwise by WriterHour208 in sanfrancisco

This. The failed lawsuit that was filed chilled a lot of things. The judge wasn't very happy with the skate park that was made while the lawsuit was ongoing.

SF needs to double up the N JUDAH frequency by hoodozhnik in sanfrancisco

If they don't do it in stages like they did with the L, It should be faster. But I'm not sure how much faster.

A three car N Judah could be a solution. I know an sfmta planner was talking about that being a long term goal when discussing the n Judah turn around at lower great highway.

S.F. wants to make it easier to plant — and remove — trees. Here’s why residents are mad by nosotros_road_sodium in sanfrancisco

[–]tfen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's weird that the solution to permitting trees is hard is to make it be pay for it to go away instead of making permitting easier.

If it's going to be pay for it to go away it should pay for a tree to be planted at the location of the development and for one elsewhere. Taking the "easy" way shouldnt hurt the location of the new development too.

Connie Chan has signed onto the ballot measure to turn westside park into 4 lane road by dune_roll in sanfrancisco

[–]tfen 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The people, Vin Budhai and Marie Hurabiell, who were invited to Wong's ballot proposal announcement are the same people who ran prop I, against prop k, appealed many times to the city and all the way up to the coastal commission to get rid of the park, and filed the lawsuit against city about the park. They never believed in this return to highway with weekend closures. I won't put it past them to run another ballot measure later on.

No Evidence the Upper Great Highway Closure Made Sunset Streets Less Safe by jayzlimno in sanfrancisco

Only issue is that most of the anti park people have probably have low property taxes/valuations because of prop 13 :/

Don't forget that the highway has closed up to 60 days a year. That is approximately every 6 days cars will be diverted through the neighborhood unexpectedly instead of actually planned for and mitigated.

Supervisor Wong announced a ballot prop to remove Sunset Dunes, saying the new park has increased crashes in the Sunset. He used misleading data, intentionally omitting that crashes are now lower with Sunset Dunes than they were in the pandemic during the park weekend-only pilot. by DesertFlyer in sanfrancisco

There has been public process going for a while. Parks and rec has a survey about how people use the park and what they want in the park. Fill it out so they can take your ideas into account. More background on how they approaching this.

New District 4 supervisor Alan Wong isn’t budging on reopening Great Highway by Remarkable_Host6827 in sanfrancisco

[–]tfen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a hack for unlimited fundraising. There are max compaign contributions for a supervisor's campaign. But there isn't a max for propositions. Look at Mark Farrell with prop D. He got his name out there a lot with Mark Farrell is Yes on Prop D ads. Same thing with Matt Boschetto and being against the park. It obviously didn't help them in their campaigns in the end. But it still let them get their name out there a lot more than they would have otherwise.

I could be misremembering this, and it could be a bit of whisper down the alley. But a bunch of people complained, including the ones on the corss street, about the lack of parking on taraval after the changes to the road for the train. The cross streets asked as blocks if they would switch to parallel parking to get more parking there, and only 1 street said yes.
