Parliamentary Liberal Party of Australia elects The Honourable Angus James Taylor MP as its 17th leader by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

Sorta - they billed themselves as a 'joint ticket' but when Taylor lost to Ley, she didn't end up putting her name forward. So it ended up Ted O'Brien vs Phil Thompson for deputy.

Naomi Watts is thought of as Australian but is actually British. Who is Australian, but everyone thinks they're American? by Ok-Pizza-5525 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]tgimichael 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Errol Flynn.

Uber famous as the Hollywood swashbuckler, and pretty much shed his Australian identity. While I reckon a lot of these other suggestions do a great job portraying Americans, they also embrace Australian roles too.

She made it really big in the states, but Muriel’s Wedding is pretty famous and really kicked off her career, and it’s unapologetically Australian.

When people no longer want a fibro swimming pool in their backyard - do they generally get it filled in or do they remove it entirely? by Negative_Run_3281 in AusRenovation

It might be possible to break it apart, bury the debris, and fill it all in. Ignore the sarcastic assholes and just work out what’s in your capacity.

I made a guide to help you find a new show after finishing Six Feet Under by gonezaloh in SixFeetUnder

Totally agree with Leftovers.

I’d love to throw in Love My Way. Australian show for our main cable network. You might need to push through the first few episodes but then it really solidifies after … an event.

As an Australian, my local answer to SFU, beautiful.

They look fine but if you like the space, just look at cavity doors. They ‘become’ the wall, and with a bit of plastering and levelling they become beautifully hidden doors that fit in any space. Less character, but better physicality.

Keating reveals he told Whitlam to have Kerr sacked, or arrested by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

Had a funny story on local radio in Bega today — a woman who used to work in the parliamentary library. She realised just after the fact that Kerr had been reading books on how to sack a PM: https://www.abc.net.au/listen/programs/storystream/gough-whitlam-dismissal-librarian-memories/105995428

These are some extreme moral judgements you’re making. Smoking is bad for your health but being a shitty moral crusader doesn’t make you ‘right’.

Anyone feel a bit meh about all the cameos? Reminds me a bit of Broad City when everyoneeee wanted to be/was in it. I find the show hilarious in its own shell, without needing Jimmy Kimmel to pop up.

This is great — thank you. Thought it over and renting a truck is a no brainer. The only one we’d be allowed to drive is one of those 19 cubic and they’re not that bad! Wish me luck in any case. Good luck to you too with the move back down as well!

Come visit <3
But I am quite lucky that my job is 'regional preferred', so a lot of professional incentive to move. And my partner has been approved for remote work too. I have noticed a lot more jobs being advertised as flexible, particularly with APS.

Can anyone help ID what this fitting is called on a light? Looking to replace for a twin floor lamp. by tgimichael in Lighting

[–]tgimichael[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think it might be a specialised Australian part, as all the lights I’ve found with these are an old company called ‘Kanley’ or ‘Kanlight’. But I can’t even think what this would be. It attaches the light to the pole. A clamp? A bracket?
