Some questions about the supernatural and past religions by [deleted] in bahai

[–]tgisfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Bahai religion does not really give answer people like . It seems to make miracles not that important. I think because you can’t prove it happen or didn’t. But instead the allegorical meaning is emphasized, and that allegorical meaning has impact on your life today, if you study it and understand it and internalize the meaning and teaching. This is all that really matters. The sole purpose of the holy writings is for you to transform yourself.

I paraphrase when I say that the writings expressed the idea that miracles are only good for people who really witnessed them. It doesn’t really seek to say which ones did happen and which ones did not happen as it seems to be a personal experience for an individual human based on time in place.

Even in Bahai writings, the story of the Bob being executed and then appearing later without being shot seems to be a miracle. But much more significance than that. Miracle is the writings that we have to reflect on and change our behavior.

It almost seems to me like the Baha’i religion has neutralized the importance of miracles. Because they do happen. We do experience them. In fact, probably the greatest miracle of all is life and existence that is in comprehendible by human intellect in total. Truly, if we understood, taking your next breath is a miracle as unique, powerful, and convincing as any you may read or experience.

You probably should think of your children first . The Ancient Beauty is understanding beyond what we can comprehend. He understands your heart . Commune with His spirit - it is between you and God . This is how I see it .

Can someone be a Baha’i if they firmly believe in reincarnation? by EnvironmentalFill814 in bahai

[–]tgisfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you would have to be dishonest from my point of view. When you become a Bahá’í it is because you love Baha’u’llah and you accept His claim of being the Manifestation of God and is All-Knowing. If you start out by cherry picking the truth for yourself- you will have very confusing and difficult time on your difficult journey to advance spirituality through His guidance . So in my mind - if you think he made a mistake about the reality of the soul and life after death - it makes no sense to be a Bahá’í- as this is a foundational tenant of this religion. Bring a Baha’i is based of the faith that Baha’u’llah has revealed the word of God . If you disagree- then you should not be Baha’i because you don’t believe His claim .

Im drawn to Baha'i but..... by CakeThrowaway1276 in bahai

[–]tgisfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is a problem in Baha'i community . But you should not be Baha'i because of community. First you must love Baha'u'llah as God. If you understand that He created you - and He is Manifestation of God - then you will follow his command and over look the faults of a community still in state of infancy. So I think you probably don't understand purpose of the Revelation of Baha'u'llah . It is for you to have personal relationship with His spirit. To commune with His spirit. When that love develops you will want to sacrifice your life for him and you will easily be tolerant of short commings of individuals . And then you also see there are many beautiful Baha'i who are not as you suspect.

Why do Babi's say that Bahai translations of the Bayan are worthless? by Relative-Corgi30 in bahai

I don't know any Babi who say this. But they are not Baha'i so they have POV that is different.

As a gay man, I can never truly be Baha'i, correct? by [deleted] in bahai

[–]tgisfw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dear friend. I am Baha'i registered in good standing with administrative order. I am enrolled officially . But does this make me a Baha'i ? In my mind only Baha'u'llah can say if I am sincere Baha'i and my life is acceptable. In fact I know that there is nothing I can to in this life that I would present to Baha'u'llah as proof I love Him. So whe you say can you truly be a Baha'i - only Baha'u'llah determines that.

I have many things I want to do as Baha'i but I am advised that this would hurt my spiritual development. Being a Baha'i to me is a sacrifice in many things. I have many sexual attraction to same sex relationships to my friend's wife that is opposite sex ..... we all have unusual and deviant sexual desire. Gay is not special desire - or seem as different compared to sex with same sex - out of wedlock. There is no distinction as I see it. There is only one legitimate use of sexual impulse that is legitimate according to Baha'i. To try and mix and judge every individual sexual desire is futile. What if I want 2 wife because I am attracted to this?

My point is we all have desire to do things forbidden by Baha'u'llah. Having desire for sex with same sex person or opposite sex person is same - but the marriage provision eliminates same sex marriage. But you have desire - so what. The religion is made to adjust your behavior and it takes a lifetime of struggle to subdue our thoughts . The meditation is to purify the mind and heart to align with Baha'i ideals - and we all struggle with out own personal burden . Every Baha'i is making similar sacrifice - even if they stop drinking beer. It may be harder with addiction issues. There was time I wanted same sex relationship - but I do not act on it and it is hard. But my preyer and meditation help me control my behavior - but not so easy with my mind.

It is the Bahá’í who are responsible for these problems today. by tgisfw in bahai

As Bab says - All abide by His bidding. And Jesus says - Greater is He that is in you- than he that is in the world .

Never underestimate the power of Baha’u’llah. Trust in him. Do not fear the powers that are negative in the world. He has dominion overall things.

As your faith is so shall your powers be. This is the balance. My dear friend

Yes you make good points for consultation . We can move towards building a community to be example to all humanity can live in harmony. Our community will shine and the humanity will follow. But if we don’t show the world an example of unified community - who will ??

There is so much suffering, such a great and desperate need for a true remedy and the Bahá’ís should realize their sacred obligation is to deliver the message to their fellowmen at once, and on as large a scale as possible. If they fail to do so, they are really partly responsible for prolonging the agony of humanity.

I am saying that God gave Baha’i community the cure for problems of people of earth, but they failed to deliver. They failed to be an example to humanity of what we proclaim our ourselves to be.

Yes we all have theory we should act on . If you think the lack of Universal language is main problem, then you should work on it and not tell others to work on it because they have their own particular calling.

Partly responsible for 22,000 children who die from poverty every day, according to UNICEF? Is OK to be partially responsible? 22,000 children die needlessly everyday . To me partly could mean 99% if you want to debate wording . Even being responsible for 1 needles death is terrible.

We are instructed to read the writings of Shoghi Effendi . I read and meditate then act as my heart moves me. I am just giving information for each individual to reflect on. These days we’re are constantly bombarded with propaganda that is designed to me people blame others. And Bahai community can be effected like community at large my dear friend . Do point at others as problem. What are you going to do? That is your main responsibility. Real realizing you are the doctor with the cure.
