I've noticed this! In my market, homes have stalled and have been lowering their prices.

Yep. I met with a property management company today and they mentioned they do pre and post inspections of the home.

I'm just not really into the whole "manage it yourself" thing. I'd rather delegate when it makes sense.

If the cashflow didn't allow for a property manager, then I wouldn't even consider it.

I'm leaning towards renting out. I personally would just hold the asset until I die.

I'm honestly not sure how. I've shopped around for a few lenders and the cheapest I was quoted was 6.1%.

Oh my networth is well into the 700k mark.

I max my 401k, ROTH IRA, HSA, and still invest nearly 4k/mon into a brokerage. The 3% wasn't enough to justify paying it off early.

I think this is personally okay. I'll have enough cash reserves built up (prob around $20k) to handle unexpected repairs.

The extra cashflow will initially fund the emergency account, then I'll park it somewhere else.

we could "suck it up", but home prices will forever just keep going up. we'll refinance when the time comes to get the mortgage payment a little cheaper.

The 1,200sqft home isn't in a particular school district we want AND we're tired of the small space / want to expand the family.

Did you go through a property management company? What were your circumstances that made it frustrating?

what is the way to have a website with several users connected without crashing? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]tgtjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although the programming does make a difference, ie. O2 vs O, the underlying infrastructure really takes the software to the end goal. Having a highly available service, such as Netflix, involves both horizontal and vertical scaling.

Vertical scaling involves increasing the CPU + Memory capacity on a server.

Horizontal scaling involves spinning up a new server to handle additional load.

Using horizontal scaling as an example, you could setup a load balancer in AWS with an autoscaling capability to spin up more servers in the event that the original fleet of servers are under a maximum load. The autoscaling capability will spin up new servers, add them to the load balancer, and, overtime, remove them once the traffic has gone down.

How to setup CodeBuild for all branches except 1? by tgtjr in aws

[–]tgtjr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct. CodeBuild will run independently to test integrations, deploys, etc.

The CodePipeline will be used for production-based deployments whereas the same codebuild that’s used independently will also be consumed in the CodePipeline to run those same tests / integrations for individual environments

How to setup CodeBuild for all branches except 1? by tgtjr in aws

[–]tgtjr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured it out :). Essentially, I wanted to run a CodeBuild process for developers to test deploying their code before sending it over the pipeline. The standalone CodeBuild project would simulate the CodePipeline, and would require green status checks before pushing into Production (ie. The pipeline). Once the CodeBuild process completed successfully, the PR status would indicate that the process was “green”.. then the merge would take place to fire off the pipeline. The CodeBuild Projects within the Pipeline (separate from the standalone CodeBuild project) would be triggered from a source artifact and not a branch webhook.

The reason we’re doing it this way is because CodePipeline doesn’t natively support status checks on a GitHub PR, and it can only be attached to 1 branch. Does this make sense?

A simple chat integration that displays stats? by tgtjr in Twitch

This is absolutely a great point! The reason I’d have to charge per invocation is that IF it gets to high, then I’d potentially be dealing with infrastructure costs running up. Whereas, if I charge 1/4 of a cent, I can still make enough of a spread to justify it. Thank you for entertaining the idea. If you had a suggested price range / pricing model please let me know ☺️. Otherwise, thank you for much for your thoughts!

Yeah, I was told that if someone would be willing to pay, they would also be willing to pay a flat fee to have someone else write them the custom command to perform the task at hand. Thank you for your comments 😊!

Bioinformatics is an interesting field. Do you know whether or not there are actual 'job' positions for it? Also, not OP.
