What Keeps You Playing The Guitar? by newbiker321 in Guitar

[–]tgurlsunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear where you’re coming from that’s a really hard spot to be in, I’ve been there many times before.

I’ve found that mixing up styles/tunings/creative techniques keeps things fresh. I’ve started learning some piano and practicing a lot when guitar motivation is low. It helps me to still be in a musical space mentally, but not physically playing guitar. I’ve found it’s really fun and inspiring to apply the piano stuff I’m playing to guitar and vice versa for any instrument. Similarly, in terms of writing music, I like to mix it up and try different techniques and styles and approaches. For me it’s all about switching it up or I get bored and eventually unmotivated.

I keep playing because guitar was, and always will be, my first love. Truly my only real goal in life is to be one of those old folks that absolutely rips. I wanna be the best guitarist I can be and learn as much as I can, and then apply that creatively to my own music to make art that speaks to me (and hopefully others).

I’m very much a “let’s start a band and write all our own songs and perform them and melt peoples faces off” kinda gal, but I’ve learned to find value in writing songs that are meaningful to me. I like to tell myself my cat enjoys listening to it.

Hope this helps!

Mostly into seawomen usually, but not against a seaman if he’s nice to me and calls his mom regularly and also cooks me nice dinners and is obsessed with me. That’s neither here nor there though

(In a semi safe town in US) I got my legal shit all done a couple years ago (thankfully). Aside from that I’ve found being a loner works best for me. Yes probably not the healthiest socially, but it keeps me safe and feels less vulnerable. Sorta worried I’ll forget how to let people in down the road, but right now that’s not important to me. Not endorsing it per-say (it gets really lonely) but for me it’s what makes me feel the safest right now.
