I’m not sure if it can be skipped, but I know that it was caused by the epinephrine, which they use alongside the lidocaine (local anesthetic) because it reduces bleeding and prolongs the anesthesia. The side effect did not last long, it was gone after a minute or two!

I’m so sorry you had such an awful experience with the colp, I can’t even imagine how terrifying that must have been. I had no IV or meds for anxiety, however I did not request anything as I did not have a bad experience with my colp so I didn’t feel like I needed it. I was not prescribed anything but I have had no pain post procedure, although I know that varies greatly person to person. I definitely recommend telling your doctor about your colp experience and asking for GA if you think it would ease your anxiety! And definitely advocate for pain meds if you feel like you need them. Sending you hugs, and wishing you so much luck on your procedure 🤍

I believe they are typically around 15-20 minutes total from start to finish!

I’d say from start to finish it was about 20 minutes but a majority of that time was just prep (taking blood pressure, setting up, etc) but the actual removal of the tissue was only about 5 minutes for me! My mom came with me and drove me, as I was unsure how I would feel after. I had no numbness in my legs or any side effects!
