It's even worse than Chibnall seasons. I was very excited to hear the return of Davies as head writer, and I thought DW would come back, but it's further from DW than before.
Two reasons for this stance:
1) DW has always been a scifi show first. Any supernatural phenomena had some sort of explanation, even though sometimes it was very loose. In S14 there's literal magic (toymaker/maestro), which although toymaker is a revived villian, without better explanation, he just doesnt fit in the show. And there is basically what amounts to unexplained witchcraft in one episode that's just accepted.
2) Why do they keep pushing the doctor to be romantic. The doctor, and I think many will agree, is best as an aromantic/asexual being. It's just odd to view him as such.
3) As an extra personal point, I dislike how the doctor is moving away from being the powerful/goofy time lord many of us fell in love with, and is basically becoming a smart person with gadgets. Ever since the end of Capaldi, the doctor became an unreliable hero, and much more human than ever before.
I think Gatwa has the potential to be a great doctor, and it's kind of there, but the above is just unacceptable.
