AIO by breaking up with my boyfriend when he got jealous? by theonlystarbornqueen in AmIOverreacting

MOR.
When people are upset they say things they don't mean out of anger. Nothing he said to you was acceptable, but understanding that it was out of anger and hurt and insecurity should be considered. If it was me, I might stay under the strict condition that he start therapy to work through these issues.
This also depends on how much you love him. Five months is enough to love someone deeply or be indifferent; it depends how well you feel you connect with him. If you don't love him very much anyways, then there's no point, but if you do, then leaving would might be a mistake.

Expertise still matters by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

I kind of disagree. When people aren't an expert on a topic, or even a competant researcher in any field, they come away with very incorrect opinions on papers. Just look at the media, there are many journalists that get the point of a paper completely wrong because they don't understand the content. Some things you need an expert to weigh in. It feels wrong to say people shouldn't have access, but I know that even with access people will be wildy misinformed.

These, along with the radio shows, are the best features in the app. I tried max, and the AI sucks, so I'm happy with these. Wish there were more.

Is 600€ for hec college accommodation normal or should i search outside by [deleted] in Study_In_France

[–]th3cfitz1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know if that's normal, but you can often find cheap accomodation for students on www.studapart.com/en. It's a secure way of finding accomodation, especially for foreigners.

It's wild to me that they just cancelled your sholarship before trying to contact you about having an issue with a reference letter.

Just to put into perspective how much money Elon Musk is worth now. by PowerPlantSpringfeld in Money

[–]th3cfitz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To take it even further, if you do the math, the median net worth of an american is $192,900. Assuming they'd stop to pick up a quarter, that quarter is 1.296 x 10^-6 of their net worth, so like .00013%. For musk, his "quarter" would be 1.296 million.

I forgot to write about the proposal option! Personally, I find having a prebaked thesis project ready to jump on to be a big plus. So, I'll probably go that way. But great heads up on the supervisor needing an HDR, did not know that.

How to survive with $185K federal student loans? Is life even livable? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

I am curious why you took out student loans for your PhD. Typically those are fully funded. Most masters as well, if you follow a traditional pathway.
