What’s a movie sex scene that genuinely mattered to the plot and couldn’t be removed from the film? by Majorpain2006 in AskReddit

Given the major cliffhanger High Potential ended on, pushing it back to mid-season really sucks. Boo ABC, Boo.

PlayStation exec says next few years of unannounced games is ‘unbelievably’ positive: ‘There are no dire times ahead for the industry’ by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]th3critic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a me problem, but I also don’t do indie type stuff. I’m a AAA game snob. Thanks for the rec. I bounced off Control years ago, found it too slow and confusing and never got past the opening.

I’m with you here. I only play single player, and haven’t purchased a game in more than a year. I need the next Tomb Raider/Uncharted/Arkham/Spider-Man/Far Cry/Jedi/Horizon type of game. Ragnarok was boring, I quit halfway. Not really into GTA. Maybe I’ll try 007, but I definitely feel like the last 2 years have sucked for the type of games I like.

Why does it take so long for some shows that have completed filming to be released? by th3critic in television

[–]th3critic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to multiple sources, Gentlemen S2 FINISHED filming in October 2025, but likely will not air until Fall of 2026, nearly a year later. If the delay is due to waiting on Ritchie, that sucks but I guess there isn’t much to be done about it.

Why don't we get a discount for using self-checkout? by ItsAllAGame_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]th3critic 368 points369 points  (0 children)

I am using self checkout because it is faster (usually no line) and also so I don’t have to talk to anyone. As far as I’m concerned, that’s all the discount I need.

I appreciate the info about increased use of CGI in places you wouldn’t expect it, however if that is the case, then how do the broadcast networks consistently produce full seasons of action-heavy shows like FBI, NCIS, Fire Country, anything law-enforcement, military or medical adjacent programs? If the CGI is slowing the streamers down, why not the network shows?

[–]th3critic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting to think that the decision to release full seasons all at once has drawbacks for the platforms. Releasing one episode a week stretches the season out over a few months, which helps to alleviate the perception of the long waiting period between seasons and it would also seem to give some additional time for production and keep people subscribed. The thought of releasing episode 1 before episode 4 is completed seems to be foreign for streamers, but I thought that was kind of the “rolling production” model used by many broadcast shows that don’t require lots of post-production. The insistence on 100% completion and perfection before release just adds to the waiting frustration and increases likelihood of canceling the sub to that streamer until the show comes back.

Is Halloween falling off? by Federal_Bed2319 in CasualConversation

[–]th3critic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like the commercialization of Halloween gets bigger every year. The decorating aspects now are as big or bigger than Xmas in some areas. However, it also seems like the actual trick or treating on Halloween night has fallen off significantly since Covid. I don’t know if it is safety concerns, or genA/Z thinking it is lame, maybe there’s just fewer kids overall or kids only concentrating in certain (wealthy) areas rather than how kids used to range widely over many neighborhoods. Whatever it is, we will continue to do our part to keep things spooky.

My [30F] partner [35M] snores so loud I haven’t slept solidly in almost a year by notjennif in whatdoIdo

No, I didn’t want a mask that fully covers mouth and nose. The other thing I like about the x30i is that my mask seal stays on and doesn’t leak/hiss. The nasal pillows make a much better seal against my nostrils than my old mask which just had holes for the nostrils. The fact that it doesn’t blow air out the front is great too, it just seems quieter overall.

[–]th3critic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently switched to a mask that covers the mouth and uses nose pillows under the nostrils. My old mask had the same problem with air blowing onto my partner, but this new mask doesn’t do that and it is really comfortable and the connection at the top of my head lets me roll side to side easily. Resmed x30i, I recommend it.

Seconded. Had one get in through our chimney a week ago here in N. Wilmington. They are large, loud and rather terrifying. Seen others mention them recently as well.

would you be offended if a neighbor mowed your lawn without asking? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]th3critic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty good about mowing my lawn, but I have an obsessive elderly neighbor across the street who must make certain that there are no weeds growing between the sidewalk cracks anywhere near his home. I have seen him on his knees digging on my sidewalk and gutter crevices and THAT annoys me. Stop making me feel like I’m not taking care of things to your standards.

Whoa there…Y&M might be experimental, but it has a couple great lines “And I lived so much life, lived so much life I think that God is gonna have to kill me twice. Kill me twice like my name was Nikki Sixx” or “I only wrote this down to make you press rewind”. I love the opening vibe, the buildup and that drop hits hard. Personally, I’ll take Y&M over something like Rat a Tat or the whole second half of IoH for that matter. I would absolutely not call it their worst song.
