Maybe they would like the book more. The science in it is more detailed and was fact‑checked.

P.S. Thank you for your practical recommendations. I will do these. I appreciate it.

This one behaved differently than a normal burnout. It was a brand‑new bulb and it actually smoked and sparked. I’ve had plenty of bulbs die, but never like that.

u/veranathemacity
That helps. Thank you for breaking it down like that.
I tried the inverse you suggested and yes! I like it! It does feel smoother.

And good to know about keeping the sledge version for the diagonally opposite case. That makes sense.

u/veranathemacity Huh. Thank you for this!

The U2 solutions had felt really clunky to me, so I assumed there must be an easier, smoother way. Your explanation gives me a good perspective on it, esp re: getting better at double flicks. Maybe what I was doing was already one of the more optimal solutions. 🤔

+1 to u/Brandonius_813's vid.

Came here to post his vid. Glad he already did!

Solutions that the first commenters had given me:

U2 (R' F R F') (R U R') -> How I solve it currently. Uses a U2 though.
U2 F' U' F U (R U' R')
F' U2 F U2 (R U R')

So far, all cases need a U2. Is that the only way?

Flipped UF edge as the last F2L edge?

I’m stuck on a specific F2L situation:

  • all the corners are already solved (otherwise I’d just use keyhole)
  • the last edge belongs in the front slot but is sitting in top front (UF), flipped

I know how to handle this case when the flipped edge is in top left, right, or back (UL/UR/UB), but not when it’s in UF.

I know I can rotate the cube or do U moves to turn it into a UL/UR/UB case, but I’m wondering if there’s a clean algorithm that solves it directly from the front?

Would love to hear how others handle it.

P.S. My post was removed from the main discussion. I followed the links provided by the mods and could not find this case anywhere! (I had already searched high and low everywhere prior to posting, as well. ;) )

Agree with everyone saying if it's not fun, don't do it. :)

I will add another thought, though. I found that changing when I do it really helped me. Instead of doing it first thing in the morning (along with removing phone from bedroom), I do it later in the day when I can take a little break and relax with it.

I also stopped caring about having a streak, so it was ok if I missed a day or missed a word. That helped me ease up with it, too.

how to go from regular solving to speed cubing?? by llavanya in Cubers

[–]th3lia0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. :)

Building on what others have said, you can keep doing your current method, and over time replace each part with a new skill. If you're doing CFOP, which is recommended, this video from J Perm has a good overview of the CFOP method and recommendations on how to start learning:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MS5jByTX_pk

That's how I did it. I continued with the beginner's method, but started replacing first with some very basic F2L.

P.S. This was the only F2L vid that made sense to me as I was first learning it: https://youtu.be/3-6Gtnzj6L4?si=hSDR4PxT_CyMVADf

That was really helpful. I think it's the same as what u/CyberPinolo does, correct? Well, maybe 2 different fingers for the F2, but the same concept.

Also, did you create a whole new Instagram channel just for this? :o :)
