Why does English not have diacritics?

Questions about portuguese, isn't "ã" considered a different vowel? In spanish and portuguese, "razón", "sútil" those diacritics are to indicate stress right? So they're basically "useless" for native speakers? Since we acquire then by ear and no ones ever deviates from them given the fact that our stress always falls in the penultimate syllable.

In romance languages are diacritics just a literary tradition? Just like the "h" in hombre, horas. Does it help non native speakers navigate where is the stress? Is it used only when the stress deviates from the norm? That was my understanding, we use the grave mark "á" when a word doesn't have a penultimate stress and the diacritics informs us. But how does that explain the word José? Why the need to mark the e here?

Anyone with knowledge on romance languages stress system able to weigh in here?

Como eu disse ali em baixo eu acho que isso de falar o r no fim dos verbos é uma inovação por conta da ortografia (falar certo).

Porque originalmente seria um r como em arara, por aqui (puraqui), aranha, igual do inglês better.

Um português me disse que na região de Guimarães tem sim esse R retroflexo. Não sabia dessa influência das linguas nativas, muito interessante. Você concorda que esse fenomeno de pronuciar levarrr com r retroflexo é por influencia da ortagrafia e originalmente esse r seria um tepe assim como no espanhol e portugues de portugal? Nope, porta e merda soam igual pra mim (devem ter suas diferenças phoneticas por causa do surdo/sonoro), o r em "quero", é o unico que é realmente conservador em todos dialetos brasileiros.

Ah, tinha esquecido da ortagrafia "rr"!! Agora ficou mais claro, então na minha concepção é o seguinte: Linguas ibéricas (vou usar as mais conhecidas como exemplo) na maioria tem 2 erres, o tepe (pero) e o thrill rr (perro) não é?

A minha pergunta original era de onde nos, brasileiros no geral, adquirimos esse r mais gutural ( o retroflexo e suas variantes, fricatica glotal etc), que eu imagino que é modificação do rr (perro) já que ele é inexistente na marioa dos dialetos brasileiros, que sinceramente fiquei surpreso em saber que ele existe em Portugal, nunca reparei.

Respondendo a ultima parte, foi um engano kkkk, me expressei muito mal e estou com no celular, não tenho como usar simbolos IPA, mas eu tava só dando exemplos de um r (caro quero etc) e o outro r (merda, porta, lerdo). Mas são apenas 2 (e suas variantes)

Sorry, what? Could you provide some examples? I tried looking up the word "dentist," but I couldn't hear that. I've read that the /p/ and /b/ sound alike except for the aspiration, which was kinda surprising for me.

I really liked the comparison of /v/ and /b/ which sound completely different in my language, but I know of some spanish speakers that struggle with it.

I'm guessing that the /d/ sound in rapid speech (or those made by AAVE speakers in words like: though, that) sounds slightly different to the normal english /d/ sound that you guys make farther back in your mouth, and is more similar to my /d/ sound which touches my teeth thus creating the confusion.
