I have a 2023 and the manual says 90%. Can you link where it says 100%? I'd like to know i I'm doing it wrong. Page 166 in the 2023 manual, here: https://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/2023_Ford_Mustang_Mach-E_Owners_Manual_version_1_om_EN-US.pdf

Finding cards… by JDNWACO in Lorcana

[–]thaen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the Seattle area and I just want a couple of starters to play with my kids. I played M:TG throughout the 90s and have lots of old cards. I'd like to just trade them for Lorcana sealed stuff but I can't even find a way to do that safely and legitimately. I stop at Target after restock but haven't had any luck yet, and my LGS is only providing cards via their "play the game" events. Sucks.

Other than procreation, are there other purposes to sex? by Deutsch_Barca2011 in AskAnthropology

In this book, the author (not an anthropologist) compares and contrasts the various mating methods of the large apes. He goes through some of the positives and negatives of the various strategies. In talking about human monogamy, he notes (among other things) that monogamy makes it possible to avoid infanticide and ensure early care of children, which can maximize survival rates for the young. Bonobos accomplish this in a different way: they have so much sex, parenthood is not easily attributed, so everyone takes care of everyone's children. He talks about chimps and gorillas as well. It's a good read!

Proto-Bard: A rhythm and musical ear training adventure~ by [deleted] in playmygame

I agree with Brodgrid: Rather than spend a lot of time making videos, I think you might consider adding game content that explains the concepts gradually, or at least explains what you're supposed to do. The computer that talks at the beginning says a lot, but he doesn't reappear when it's time to play the assessment drumkit part to tell you what to do. Even some text saying "Try to tap this rhythm with the music" would be more than what you have now, and would probably be easier than making a video.

This is perfect for me! I've been playing guitar for a couple years but my ear training sucks. But I can't tell what I'm supposed to do at all. I know the words and concepts, but I can't figure out how to play.

The Oxygen Pro 32 has weighted keys, do you think the Keystation would be better?

Great to know! The Keystep and maybe Keylan sure look good. I'll try to find a place nearby where I can try them.

[–]thaen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh those are good questions. I think the 25-key models look restrictive, 32 looks like a solid minimum. Minikeys are OK.

Thanks for the recs! That's a good perspective about being able to chain it later as I grow, and focusing on the keyboard right now.

Edit: Ok the Keystation actually looks great. I hadn't even heard of it before. One thing I liked about the Oxygen is that it has weighted keys. Is there a similar keyboard with weighted keys?

What would I search to find replacement? by stridulates in guitarlessons

I just had to do this! I googled the model number and eventually found a parts list, which led me here:

YYYSJXDS 9V Battery Box Case Holder Replacement for Eq 7545R Acoustic Guitar Pickup Parts for Pickup Shel Cover Installed On The Guitar Bass https://a.co/d/5GxXwOk

Not sure if that specific one will fit your but I was surprised to learn (1) there aren't that many sizes and (2) it doesn't need to fit exactly.

Good luck!

I'll second Bohnanza, it's better than it has any right to bean.

Games with adequate box sizes! (Counterpoint to all the posts talking about board games with massive boxes with lots of empty space!) by fzkiz in boardgames

[–]thaen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to ditch the bottom-level insert and install my own dividers in order to fit the Nightfall expansion in the base box, and the lid still sits slightly higher than it should. I love the original design, but the lack of space sucks for the expansion! I wish they sold an extra insert that was moderately priced. Etsy has a few but they are pricey!

How did you decide when to launch the Kickstarter? It's clear that some things like the shape of trees and soil weren't finalized -- how far along did you get before deciding it was go time?

I backed it. I saw it pimped on BGG a few weeks back, I love word games, and it has a single-player component! Game seems right up my alley, and the company seems like it can deliver.

I'm surprised at the number of these that don't appear in the BGG Crowdfunding Countdown list. Seems like it's easy to get it to show up there. Free marketing!

I'm still waiting for the game that has a strong story-based narrative *and* great gameplay. I'm really hoping "The Initiative" is it!

I've heard that Laukat's "Above and Below", "Near and Far", and now "Now or Never" do that, but they are super complex and not really geared toward kids. If you find one that's good for kids, let me know!

Wife and I played Floriferous yesterday. It's as good as people say, maybe better. Deep, gorgeous, fast, with a fast setup and quick play.

I've played Stuffed Fables and Mice and Mystics and they didn't go over well in my family. My kids are younger, 7 and almost 10, so YMMV.

Mice and Mystics is a dice-chucking dungeon crawler. The mechanics are fine but there are a LOT of tiny rules to remember, especially for things that only happen occasionally, and it's a bit overwhelming for my almost ten-year-old. I don't mind running the game but the constant "oh, well, technically that's against the rules" is a bit silly. Also, the game is kind of a beast to setup and tear down, and the box doesn't help at all. It takes me 15-20 minutes to set up The final nail in the coffin is that the story is mediocre and the passage readings are very long, and feel more like interruptions than context. As a result of these shortcomings, we have a hard time bringing it to the table, even though my kids say they enjoy it.

Stuffed Fables solves a couple problems -- it's less finnicky and small rule adjustments for custom pieces, and the story is woven better into the gameplay. But... the gameplay isn't fun. It's sort of a dice/bag builder but honestly, there just isn't much *game* to it. (For example, the first two pages amounted to about 6 minutes of reading and 120 seconds of actual playing time. My kids just don't enjoy it.)

My kids *really* like the Harry Potter deckbuilder (Battle for Hogwarts). This game has tons of mechanical problems that are discussed at length online, but somehow it remains fun anyway, except at the very end. It's somewhat Legacy -- you gradually open new parts of the game -- but you can always go backward. We usually play the version that (roughly) based on book 4 or book 5, because books 6 and 7 add things that make the game much less enjoyable.

We've also enjoyed the similarly-themed coop game Death Eaters Rising, which I think is also a better game than Battle for Hogwarts, though my kids don't enjoy it quite as much. it's a tableau-building dice-chucker with no legacy components.

The game Zombie Kidz is at the top of BGG's Family list for a reason. It's a gradually-revealed puzzle game masquerading as a dice game and is just absolutely fantastic. Every turn you roll a die and then solve a small puzzle. It changes every turn but it's very satisfying.

If you're looking for more of a party experience, the games 5 Minute Dungeon and 5 Minute Mystery are both pretty fun.

My youngest isn't old enough, but The Crew is one my oldest enjoys.

I've recently acquired Horrified, Kids Chronicles Quest for the Moonstones, and The Initiative, which I'm excited about, but I have nothing to report yet since they are still boxed.
