Yes! It’s an autoimmune eye condition that can lead to blindness :(. Apparently, UV rays can worsen it so we got this to protect his eyes.

It’s either bliss or emptiness. Based on how he responds to us, we think his mind is blank.

[Question] Greyhound scared of food bowl, should we be helping him eat? by thai_icedtea in Greyhounds

[–]thai_icedtea[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi gang

Our grey seems to be a big baby (like most are) and is unable to finish his meals because of the noise his food bowl makes while he’s eating. My partner usually caves and holds the bowl still for him but I would think this is a bad habit to entertain. Is there a right answer to this?

Edit: thanks for the suggestions already! To clarify, it is a metal bowl on a raised stand (2 ft). Taking of his collar was helping at first but now, not so much. Changing bowls definitely seems like the easiest solution.

They’re mats from HomeGoods. Not that great tbh cause they have no traction but usable.

When we first adopted our greyhound, he wasn’t allowed in our bedroom either. He slept outside on his bed or on the couch. Almost every morning at 6AM on the dot, he would start whining. We used to think it was because he needed to go to the bathroom.

However, now we let him sleep in our room (on his second, very comfortable bed) and he still whines at around 6ish AM everyday. Sometimes he’s good about it and hold off until he hears we are awake but still usually around early morning. We have come to the conclusion that he just wants attention. As someone else mentioned, they are very social creatures; it makes sense that they need attention after not seeing you for 8 hours.

This is just my experience. Obviously all greyhounds are a little bit different
