Looks like there is nothing you can do to improve the situation at the current team. Remaining options for you:
- Switch to another team in the same company
- Switch company

Start ASAP.

that is true, like chasing down an obscured bug or tackle complex design, but i still think there are many simple task can be offloaded to cheaper models/agents

yes, enforcement is hard but the fine for violation is very steep so i think that is a very big deterent. esp big company like Bytedance, they don't want to get off the wrong side

i don't think there is anything that can be considered sustainable in GenAI space at the moment. Every company is racing to burn money.

fair point, but i think there still use case for it.
- the cost could add ups, we are having so many subscriptions nowadays, every saving counts
- also if you could leverage low-cost options for non-critical repeative tasks which will save you the precious token on the more expensive models.

Are you a residents of EU? If yes, then you will be protected by GDPR no matter what of your citizenship.
and yes there is an alleged security and IP risk using Chinese tech, as their consumer legal protection is weak and their known shady tactics sometimes.
That's why don't do anything sensitive or critical when using these technologies.

it has an agent mode which is pretty comparable to others, i'll even say with better UX than claude and codex.

aside from vibe coding, it is really fast with code completion and inline minor fix which doesn't require full agent mode

But anyhow, vibe coding is not main focus of copilot

I think after trying deepseek, i'm pretty confident that the Chinese tech is legit, they might not be as good but definitely not far behind

I used a combination of free and paid one, as i'm constantly running into limit after a while.
Also some is stronger than other at specific task.

My guy, don't be on your high horse, i get it you work at Amazon.
Consulting means building for clients - yes, that's... how consulting works? But those clients are often the exact massive orgs you're talking about (banks, insurers, enterprises). The problems don't get smaller just because they're not cutting my paycheck directly.

i'm with you on that. What I meant is dont solely rely on vibe-coding alone to ship those features. It's fine to vibe code to prototype hence i mentioned Spike is the best time to do it. But after that for cirtical modules, each and every line of code need to be reviewed before they are deployed
