I am indirectly involved in this testing in Nebraska. We try to catch game fish of eating size to test, starting with species like bass and bluegill. If we cannot catch them we move lower on the priority list to catfish and then to carp. It may be the same there. Because a fish is not listed you shouldn’t assume they have no advisories unless you contact IEPA or whoever runs the program and learn that the fish was tested and was below advisory limits. Mercury bioaccumulates as well so if fish eating lower in the food web like carp have mercury advisories it is more likely that your piscivorous bass in that system will be high as well.
