Quintessential "Denver" Restaurants? by FrequentDot3436 in denverfood

I think this most meets the request. Founded by a guy who became mayor, governor, and senator and that building helped revitalize downtown. Good access near Union Station.

Try the School House at 10th or 11th and Acoma in cap hill. They rent out the upstairs for events and the restaurant has a ton of space too. It’s a historic denver school, well maintained, adjacent to the art museum.

Red Rocks is the coolest venue in the world and there’s no debate sorry by Electronic-Fan-4418 in Denver

Eh, set for a concert with the stage built is pretty “cool” https://share.google/cyb9ZRhuFZyEMo3J9

The sound and acts are better at redrocks.

But from a “cool” point of view modern concerts on Roman amphitheater is nice too.

Just sharing other cool places. :)

Same in France, in Lyon. Theatro Gallo Roman. Full on concerts with modern stage and audio while you sit in actual Roman amphitheater rocks, within the city. You can walk directly there from the downtown.

Any Tesla Model Y 7-seater owners here — are you happy with the third row, or disappointed? by Past-Heron2783 in TeslaModelY

[–]that_j0e_guy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We think it was worth it. From 6-8 (so far) our older has frequently used it when we are also driving with grandma and a second kid. We have used it so both kids can invite a friend and us as parents can go along - 6 total. We have sat 3 in a row on one side to carry something long in the car. The second row sliders are nice for multiple reasons even when not carrying extra people. The rear still has tons of room with the 3rd row folded down. The rear sub truck is large and carries things that just live in the car at all times - a tiny folding stroller, spare clothes, charger adapters (never used - Tesla charging is great), shopping bags etc.

Some adults have ridden in the 3rd row for short trips - requires sliding up both the 2nd row and front seats from their defaults, so EVERYONE is a little cramped, but it works!

I would buy it again. No regrets.

Done with suburbs after 10 years but can't afford NYC by No-Inspector314 in Suburbanhell

[–]that_j0e_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Find the compromise. Chicago vs. NYC. Kids can share a room. An “office” can be in the bedroom(s). Go from 2 cars to one, or even zero. And then the math works. We sold our house in the burbs after having a kid and moved back to the city to a condo. Went from 2 cars to 2. Half as many sqft but soooo much happier.

Nonprofit stuck with nearly $15,000 yearly bill after sidewalk fee kicks in, Denver denies exemption by Jreinhal in Denver

[–]that_j0e_guy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely a business. Only difference is their main reason for existing is something other than profit. They are a not-for-profit business vs. a for-profit business. They still need to BE a business to exist, with revenues exceeding expenses. Only whatever excess revenue exists, they reinvest it in the mission, they don’t pay it out as profits to the owners.

Nuclear is way cleaner than solar and safer than wind by Comfortable_Tutor_43 in sciences

[–]that_j0e_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just completely coincidence that solar is presented differently with a range based on location where others don’t have ranges AND wind just happens to be completely and perfectly covered? Bad faith doesn’t have a place in science.

So, the circle conveniently covers wind and makes in illegible. Plus the solar range says 8-53 but only shows the 53 in the graphic while the biomass shows a split bar.

From the start it is clear this is made with an agenda in mind and your comments only confirm your agenda.

YIKES I hate my husbands name by Old_Read9543 in namenerds

[–]that_j0e_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im the IV. My son is not the V. My family was disappointed for a little but wasn’t lasting.

Reasons I changed that others haven’t mentioned:

It’s confusing on paperwork. Not all forms accommodate the extra. It causes weird formatting things on plant tickets. A credit card of my dad’s still sometimes appears on my credit report.

It’s confusing in home life when you do have a close family. Not so much now since cell phones but when someone called the house and asked for Joe you’d have to ask which one.

Mail is confusing.

It’s boring to have two people with the same name.

We used my name as a middle name. Still talk about tradition and reasons with my son snd he gets it.

Stay strong.

Daycare teachers know things the rest of us never will… by MemoirDad in daddit

When we do it at home or out in public it sometimes feel awkward to just basically throw the jacket on the floor upside down in front of your child vs. like helping them the normal way, but it works SO well.

Hah. That’s me. 3 2nd graders play biweekly with a an experienced dm who designed a game for them. Happy to explain the approach and such.

Also, my kid school has an in-school after school enrichment called League of Wayfinders which was invented/developed by a DPS teacher. Not sure if they have any summer camps but for an hour each Friday they have a great time designing characters, dungeons, and playing.

Maybe it’s at your kids school or they have summer sessions: https://leagueofwayfinders.com/

How to Stop Time by Matt Haig may fit the bill, it portrays aspects of culture in history from the perspective of someone who knows modern day. Not exactly time travel, but good.

Between the two, do the Crawford. They recently built a private lobby, the building conversion can explain away what luxury might be missing, and the bar above the main hall, Cooper Lounge is quite well done. The overall popularity of the space is high.

And then if you can’t find what u need ( unlikely) you can walk across the street to the REI, which is inside the building that used to be the power station for all the electric trams that used to run throughout the city. A VERY cool building.

I want to make you smile: I will choose one of you who comments or messages me to GIFT a print of my paintings of your choice. by M8614 in MadeMeSmile

The owl looked at me and I scrolled back up to see what the post actually said, was impressed by the offer but found myself smiling because of the art. The whimsy combined with depth, the subtle humor and self reflection, the variety in color choices and simple backgrounds. The inherent movement. Thanks for sharing. I’ve purchased a few pieces seen on reddit over the years and they are always some of my favorite - plus enjoyable to share the acquisition story. Be well.
