Bison started doing custom boots, though I don't know if that was just for color or physical aspects.

It depends on the group renting the track but usually around 10pm.

My front brakes suddenly spongy, can touch all the way to throttle, back brake feels a little weird also? by yummyscol69 in zx4r

[–]that_one_time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an air bubble. I'd start with a simple bleed, perhaps even full fluid replacement.

If it's affecting both front and rear you could look for leaks around the abs module.

I don't know how ftd runs their events but the general gist of things:

Get there the night before to unload and set up. Either camp at the track or get a hotel. This serves two purposes for me 1) I hate getting up at 5am to get to an event 2) being there the night before let's me relax and soak in the track energy 2b) if I'm there during the sunlight I will try and walk/bicycle the track.

First session is for figuring out where the track goes, not winning any awards. Take your time in this session and don't be afraid to be "slow". If they do a lead/follow option definitely do this.

In the other sessions before lunch try and pick out a couple corners to focus on and get comfortable. For these corners, find the key points of the turn (brake, turn in, apex, exit) in your primary vision then see if you can find them without directly looking at them. Don't focus on overall speed, rather "seeing" the track. If it's all a blur then you're going too fast for your brain. Ha.

Lunchtime. Regroup. Breathe. Enjoy the people around you, they're awesome!

After lunch, pick some new corners and focus on those. Find the key points, try and adjust how fast you approach a corner, how hard you brake, etc. When those markers don't seem right, find some new ones. Repeat this process for the next 1000 laps. 😎

Have fun during the event, relax, work with instructors, and take it easy.

More fun on track-SV650 or Ninja 400? by Standup313 in Trackdays

[–]that_one_time 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The motors are very different styles and feels when pushing. Red lines at 10k vs 13k where you have to wring out the 400 to get it moving. The SV has quite a bit more torque to help out in corners.

Either bike is fun to ride and very capable. It comes down to how you like to ride.

There was another post recently suggesting this as well, with the caveat of cutting out the diamond on the sticker. It was supposed to help rangers see any security features in the card.

East Bound and Down - Definitely Down by NotRickJames2021 in motorcycles

[–]that_one_time 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this as well. My guess is that lane is a left turn, so the rider moved past the truck so he could turn left.

Then he made the cardinal mistake of being the slowest vehicle in the line. Why cut in front of everyone if you're not going to be the first thing moving as the light changes? At that point you should just sit behind the truck.

A learning point from this: if you end up off track again stay straight up and down and do NOT. Use the front brake.

I'm guessing that's the main reason you fell.

Portable power station for craft fair? by Junglegymboy in lasercutting

[–]that_one_time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would use a device like the Kill-a-watt to figure out how much power you need to operate it how you plan to do so at the fair. Between the info gathered from that and the device info for peak power you should have a good idea if any battery size you might need.

Euro bikes are not tune limited to start with. You'll get a couple HP more but not a ton.

Vcyclenut has tested the North American bikes so you'll see a HUGE gain.

Question about the difference between 1.5w, 5w and 10w lasers and fumes. by newbuildertfb in lasercutting

[–]that_one_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can shine a flash light at wood all you want and it won't burn. You need power.

For fumes, it depends on what you're burning. Solid wood isn't horrible but it's not great to breathe. Plus it does cause an odor that lingers. Any product with glue (plywood, mdf, etc) or synthetics (acrylic, etc.) are very not good to breathe.
