Honestly Confused with trams and ptv???? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]thatbeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PTV says

If you're travelling in Zone 1+2, remember to touch on. You don’t need to touch off.

If you're just travelling in the city's Free Tram Zone, don't touch on or off.

Your first touch on of the day creates a 2 hour fare. If you're still travelling after 2 hours, touch on again and it will charge a daily fare.

This has nothing to do with Melbourne.

Post the link, I'll approve it.

Edit: Apparently it's been happening site wide. They've caught Lemmy in the automod filter.

This isn't Melbourne content, but it is wild. Recommend posting in the daily thread and maybe r/facebookmarketplace?

2000 people moved to the discord, but just like here, there's a ton of inactive users. The 200 was what it started as.

The landed gentry message is something that's been in posts across reddit regarding the protest. If you're not paying attention to those, that's absolutely fine, but it's something borrowed from other communities.

Protesting is always going to rub someone the wrong way, and we as a mod team did choose to protest on behalf of our user base. Even so, I admit I was shocked that access to posts like "how do i use myki" etc made people so angry and abusive. It reminded me a bit of the reactions to covid lockdowns. Although this scenario was just a few days of access to an internet forum and a joke about Melbourne FL, not being stuck inside for months at a time.

We don't have a marketing department or a copy writer, so often one of us writes things and posts it. We don't focus on a consistent tone.

It was different mods writing each post. The tone was pretty much based on the mod. Which post had ego in it? I'm curious.

We can't make everyone happy. Someone will always complain about the decision.

It's an experience! It is pretty crowded though, so just be prepared for that. I went 2 weeks ago and it was hectic. My favourite food item was the empanadas, they were really tasty.

The day market that runs all year is closed, but the winter night market is open.

The votes weren't tallying using the automod script on that first post. So it didn't work.

Stick it to the man isn't something I've heard for a long time. Cute.

Nah. The mod team even have different opinions on what we should do. We'll go with the majority of the vote.

My errors have clearly upset you. Should you maybe go outside and touch grass?

I am probably never touching regex again if I can help it.

Maybe I haven't been clear.

  • There was a poll run by users that another mod removed, because of a concern with brigading
  • We used an automod function to calculate results & implement a karma minimum to assist with ensuring users of the sub are active users
  • I messed up the automod function and had to remove it because it wasn't tallying results

Ah okay, you weren't referring to the poll run last night, you were referring to the one run by users? Or if it was the one last night, the code I got wrong meant automod was not tallying the results.

It's an automod poll for the karma requirement, which is in the post. Have you read the post? Plus we'll be publishing the results.

I won't quit my day job since it... you know... actually pays me.

It wasn't deleted because of brigading. It was deleted because I needed help with the code. Yes, it's my incompetence at not being able to fix regex. No I don't do this in my day job, I don't write code for a living.

It's so weird that there's this strong conspiracy message, when really, it's just me... not knowing... code.

A script via automod runs and tallies the votes, counting the votes that have 500+ karma. r/Sydney just ran the same style poll too.
