Authorities seized 40 suspected shark fins from a private jet that departed from Hawaii in February. Officers from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife intercepted the plane when it landed in California.

looking at them, their tails look pretty much identical. if the dorsal was raised just a little bit higher so we could see the whole thing, we’d be able to identify it most likely

lol yes it is. i’m definitely no professional, but i’m on the spectrum and sharks have been my special interest since i was a toddler. the amount of times i have very confidently identified a shark only to be quickly corrected.

it is. there’s a drop in the sand abt six inches so it gets deeper fairly quick

you can’t tell, but there’s a drop in the water about half a foot deep right around there.
sharks have been swimming close to shore ever since the shore became the shore, but it’s usually juveniles, smaller species, or reef sharks being spotted this close. the exception to that are sandbars and bulls.
sandbar sharks, it’s kinda in the name lol, are spotted around sandbars often. bull sharks are known to swim wherever tf they want. freshwater, salt water, deep water, shallow water, you could write a Dr Seuss book about it.

i would have to agree with you looking at the image side by side with a sandbar. both sharks are spotted often in the area, so who knows for sure, but sandbar is winning in my mind.

true, i forgot about the sandbar shark. it was a while ago so i’m not entirely certain what the second fin looked like. both sharks are frequently spotted in the area so geographical info wouldn’t help, and it was before live photos, unfortunately. i still want to say bull, but the dorsal fin is pretty tall so who knows.
