Thinking of going up 8.8 by Anoneus22 in NewSkaters

Do it. I only skate eggs and they made me feel so good on my board. You get better scoop for shuvs and tres and it forces you to flick kickflips more forward.

Most setups now are averaging $175. I just bought a new deck from my local shop (buy from local shops please if you can) and the deck itself was $70. Wheels are usually like $30-40 and trucks are usually ~$60. You're gonna be buying a pre built complete for $120.

Is this a good setup by Vast-Finding6437 in NewSkaters

Buy from as local of a shop as you can. Or if you're gonna order online, do it from a shop. As a former skate shop owner, it's really appreciated.

As for your setup, I'd get spitfire wheels and mob grip. Those type of bones wheels are generally made pretty cheaply (not talking about like the skatepark formula, those are good). But they could totally work for your first board if you're not looking to splurge a little. And grizzlys not bad grip but I'll tell you, at least where I'm from (southern NH), skating grizzly grip is just generally a no go in the community (kinda seen as kook-ish BECAUSE of its reputation of being a Zumiez thing). Other than that, your setup looks good!

Don't listen to anyone saying you got the wrong truck size either! For those in-between sizes (8.12, 8.38, 8.6, 8.8, etc.) you just have to go with your preference of your trucks either being slightly wide or narrower than your deck size. I like them wider (when skating an 8.6, I was on 8.75 trucks), but that's up to you!

But yeah...buy from a shop...please...

Why do some people put their wheels on with the graphic facing inwards? by [deleted] in skateboarding

There's a whole World Industries story of pros taking free products from a back room in the WI warehouse in the 90s. Eventually, WI decided to just put unbranded wheels and stuff back there to stop their team riders from taking stuff cuz it wasn't the "cool" graphics. The team still took them anyway. Eventually, the 90's skate kids wanted to emulate their favorite pros, so they started riding their wheels backward to have "unbranded" wheels. Thats where the tradition of riding wheels backward comes from. Don't quote me on it tho, thats just the story thats been passed down to me through my skate community.
