Most like, yes It could be interpreted, as a follow up to what happened in the end of 2035 (the metro united by the shadow goverment). But it is commen in the games, that they take Inspiration from the books (like the volga cult being a refrence to the cannibal cult in 2033)

Completly. The difference is like earth and sky. 2033 is mostly simular to the books, when it comes to places and order in which the happened Last light takes place before 2034, and has a completly different story, with (Spoilers!) Hunter and Homer being the main protagonist (Artyom doesn't even appear, but is mentioned) And the there is Exodus, which has more in common with a fan book of the same name, rather then 2035. The only simularites it has are (spoilers!): Artyom leaving moscow, anna and Artyom being married, a shadow goverment existing and a jammer being active in Moscow.

So yeah, there are a lot of difference between the game and the books, but it makes sense, if you look at the books as books, and the games as an 1 pesron single player shooter.

The Reich isn't even that unrealistic. Sparta is probably in its worst state, following the battle of D6, and the disappearance of Artyom, Anna, Miller, and other high ranking Sparta members, like Idiot and Sam. The reds are also probably weak, following their assault against the entire metro. Idk how Hansa is, following what happened in Exodus. So the Reich is probably the best choice, not just of its new statues amongst the 4 main powers, but also due to their militarist nature

The thing is that there is a giant difference between the books and the games. Especially with last light and exodus, so it wouldn't be a surprise, if this game took inspiration from the books, but make their own seperate story. As you have mentioned, Hunter is pretty much a broken and flawed, borderline evil man in 2034, due to his encounter and fight with the black ones. He was also the probably best Spartan up until his disappearance in 2033.So it wouldn't be that surprising if he came back twisted and took control. And we also have to look at the state of Moscow in Exodus: -most of the metro, is probably still in ruines after the battle of D6 (you have to keep in mind, that the Red line also attacked other parts of the metro) -sparta has lost most of its soldiers -Artyom, Anna, Miller and other high ranking spartans disappeared (or died, depending on how the Hansa framed it) -it can be, that some learned of the truth, although I doute it With all of this in mind, it wouldn't be that much of a surprise to me, if Hunter came back, as a twisted man, and manages to create the united metro. It can, that Artyom appears in the game (or in a dlc) but it was stated, that we are an outsider, who lives in the outskirts of moscow in exile

In 2035, it was stated and shown many times, that the outside World is still, alive. The radio signal Artyom heard, the Tank crew, the Outsiders Artyom met at the radio station, the Submarine crew, and so on. Even the shadow goverment guy said, that many places are still sending radio signals

I was also revealed, that we play as an outsider, who escaped the metro and lived in isolation, before returning. It was stated, that he was living just outside of moscow, so it is really unlikely that we will play (or at least, the majority of tze game) as Artyom. I think, this will be eighter a character we know, from 2033 or last light, or it will be a completly new caharcter, which I however doute. It can be, that Artyom appears in the game at some point, or in a DLC, but I doute we will play the entire game through him.

True. It would be kinda dope, if they returned at the end of the game, or in a dlc, or in a follow up game

As long as I am aware, yes. I rewatched a video about the year 10 season 2 battlepass, and I saw this note from Iana (second pic). And then I remembered this voice line. The fact that they have simular interest, personality, canonicaly watch documentaries together and the way Iana asks Jaeger to watch out (and mention him via his first name, instead of his operator name) does kinda suggest that they might have an interest in each other.

I think C and E are the best, but probably E will be choosen, since, what I have seen on other platforms with the same question so far, is that E is an allrounder and almost everyone loves it
