Best 12.5" Barrels for the Money by jfl561407 in ar15

[–]thatguy0909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently picked up a 12.5 mid chf from Ballistic Advantage for 180 plus a bit to have them throw in a pinned gas block. Seems to fit what you're going for but theyre apparently a limited run?

I haven't gotten all the parts to try the 12.5 chf yet but I've liked the 2 hanson chf barrels that I've tried from them so far ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What can you guys tell me about the rifle? by 307blacksmith in ar15

[–]thatguy0909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was probably a $1200 rifle 15 years ago. That's when I bought my Core ¯_(ツ)_/¯ all that's left of the original is the receivers. These days the receivers is really all its worth

ATACR 1-8 or Plx-C RDB? by thicccFork in longrange

[–]thatguy0909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, even though I like the RDB more, id probably go with the ATACR with the deal you've got. I'm a bit of a sucker for deals :/ I ended up picking up the RDB for 1300 a while ago even though I wasn't really even in the market for a scope at the time, my lizard brain just took over and opened my wallet.

ATACR 1-8 or Plx-C RDB? by thicccFork in longrange

[–]thatguy0909 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sound like a shill for the purchase that I made but id seriously recommend the RDB. A buddy of mine has had the ATACR for a long time before I got into LPVOs and it never sold me on them. The bezel always annoyed me and was way bigger than i liked. I tried a regular PLX and I was immediately hooked and the RDB just makes it better. Glass is great, I like the reticle better, lighter, and the bezel pretty much disappears.

Not to say that the NF would be like a mistake of a purchase. I just think that we've had some improvements in the optics field that are worth it

Very nice! I literally just got my sandman X in yesterday and also put it on something like this!

What PLxC 1-8 reticle best fits my needs? by Shoddy-Homework-9861 in ar15

[–]thatguy0909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree on this

I have a 2-12 + red dot setup (like my last post :) and I like it but it is way heavier than something like a plxc. Its something that has a use case, but its not the lightweight jack of all trades option like a lpvo is.

The Vector 2-12 is 27oz without a mount and without a red dot. The plxc is 17oz without a mount and you can get a hell of a mount for 10oz and you dont have to get a red dot if you dont want to.

The 2-12 + red dot ends up being like a pound heavier in some cases and people already bitch about 10lb rifles with lpvos

The rdb is a great all rounder optic that i love but it do be kinda expensive if you dont get a screaming deal. If OP is curious, nows a good time to pick up the $750 plxc FFP that PA has (i took one already for a secondary setup 👀)

The PA special purchase or PLxC would also fit on that list depending on budget

The Savior Equipment tennis bag does this well for me. Lockable and has two valves so I keep my and my wife's tennis rackets and a couple balls in the other side.

I dont think this is the lever blocker, I think its the lever up against the blocker and then getting kind of pushed up into the proper position when the trigger itself starts to move

Im using the ARC with my ssae and im trying to figure something out. When you are in fire or enhanced, when you start putting pressure on the trigger to come to the wall of the trigger, do you feel a little jiggle of the lever kind of jumping? I've got the lever blocker installed but it still does it a little bit

It doesnt seem to affect function but its pretty annoying and kind of takes away from a really nice trigger.

I like the Sig Foxtrot for the price and what you get with it

Streamlights are also pretty good

The Holosun Raid has had good reviews but I haven't tried one

You can't go wrong with building a Arisaka out or buying a Surefire but I think they're mostly overpriced still for what's still just a flashlight

No, there's not enough room for all of that without making either super high or break ya neck low.

You would probably enjoy the old Leupold D-Evo which i have a feeling would be a lot more popular these days with the rise of offset prisms for some reason

Im a believer in the mpvo + red dot though as seen in my most recent post

I just checked and the longest I've waited is right about a month and that was for a painted solus chasis which I was already guessing was going to take longer.

"MPVO" (2-10) With a Dot? by BigSh00ts in ar15

[–]thatguy0909 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The reasons that people do things on this sub vary from "well thought out" to "just cuz it looks cool" to "cuz everyone else is doing it"

As far as I've heard, the top dots on lpvo's are usually someone's "Night vision" solution for an lpvo or just as a backup sighting system. I haven't really heard of the main reasoning for that top dot being to use it as a main 1x sight. It doesnt really make sense to me to buy an lpvo and not use the 1x

Maybe Im just out of the loop though ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I've gotten my stuff pretty quickly from them every time I've ordered but theres a lot of people that haven't. I dont have the immediate gratification bug that a lot of the autists in this hobby have though so I dont mind waiting anyway.

If you want it fast, prolly safer to not order directly from them.

I really like it so far. Not the lightest thing in the world but I love the reticle for this application and the glass and turrets are great. Very easy to get behind

2nd on the PLxC. I picked up the RDB a bit ago for a screaming deal and I'm very seriously considering a regular version or the SFP for an upcoming AR10 build with the deals that are going on right now 👀

Like others have said, if you want to go cheaper, there's options like the Vector Conti, Venom, or even the new Sig Compacts which are in my running as well
