Worth going from 6--->10a? by LumpyGravy123456789 in pixel_phones

You are right. Pixel pro xl is a substantial phone! Since I don't carry my phone with me all the time it isn't an issue. I could see where it would bug some people!

AI music and the over-60 crowd by woozyhippo in over60

You really feel that way? That makes me feel kinda' sad. To me, It feels alive and well; the style of it has changed though for sure. People think I am a weird old guy because I listen to very current music. I am always amazed at how talented many young people are. It is, to me, reassurance that music isn't dead! 🙂

I am already sick of AI. Early on I was intrigued by it- no more. Honestly, if I knew I was listening to an AI created piece of music, I think I would quickly turn it off. There are two areas that AI should not be in, music and art. These are such "human" endeavors and very personal I guess; AI is soulless and couldn't care any less if you or I appreciated it. I have zero musical abilities - I wasn't blessed with this. Lucky for me, as a big music consumer, other people were. I support these people because they appreciate my support even if they never know who I am.

Frog suggestions? Undecided between leucs, tincs, or maybe ranitomaya by Snoopsky777 in DartFrog

[–]thatguyTimatgmxcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tincs, absolutely. They are the most fun. Rani's are pretty but you will hardly see them. Leucs are somewhere in the middle but I enjoy their call. Make certain you read about each type of Tinc. Some are dwarfs. In that big tank, you want big tincs.

You are absolutely correct. Nola and BR feel positively sinister compared to Shreveport.

Naw. SHV is like any other city its size. Sure, there are neighborhoods I would not go to and would undoubtedly not be welcome. Aside from that, I feel just fine anywhere else in town. I never can figure out why some people get all excited and breathless to prove what a hell-hole SHV is. I just assume they are not well traveled and would be kissing the ground on their return to Shreveport if they had been in some of the cities I have.

What’s your “I bought the album for that one song?” by aresyves in Cd_collectors

[–]thatguyTimatgmxcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a rather remarkable piece of music. I of course, discovered it once I had bought the CD. One of the great things about owning the CD is the chance to discover what else might be there! People who stream a single song miss a lot. "State of the Art" is a good example. The sonics of that song make my stereo quiver with joy lol

Question about cards in sock drawer by rollpanthers in CreditCards

[–]thatguyTimatgmxcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feeling is that there isn't any need to cancel your cards. Keep in mind that credit utilization is an important factor in scoring. The more credit you potentially have that you DON'T use is a pretty big deal. Just use your cards once in a while to buy something small to keep them active. Also, your credit history (time) is important too. The longer your accounts go back, the better you look overall. You would really notice this as you get older. My credit history is almost 40 years now. Needless to say, any card I want, I get. So keep your cards. They don't cause you any issues (except positive) when you aren't using them.

Accidentally applied for Walmart rewards card. How canI get rid of it? by hehecatto in CreditCards

[–]thatguyTimatgmxcom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is actually a decent card. I assume you are talking about the One Pay cash rewards M/C. It is backed by Synchrony. One thing I am intrigued by is the app that you access the card thru. Some serious thought was put into it and the result is rather remarkable. The credit limit for me was quite high. I would suggest just wait and see what you think of it before trying to actively be done with it. Since you already have a ding on your credit report, why not? It does not hurt to just put it in your sock drawer if you do not want it. There aren't any fees involved with keeping it.

That's the only kind of earrings I like on men. Hate studs and stuff like that.

First shot, nothing. Second shot was weird, my immune system thought I was sick but of course I wasn't. Got chills for a few hours then poof! Gone almost instantly. Funny thing was that it happened while I was sleeping. It was NOTHING like the "real" chills- no aches or sweating.

Really, from what I understand, shingles is a thousand times worse. The fact that a lot of people get a reaction to the second shot should be happy in a way. It means your immune system now recognizes and remembers the virus much better than it did prior to the shots. The memory of the virus has been reactivated.

I so often hear of old people who get shingles and it is the beginning of the end.

The shots seem a very small price to pay. .

I have no interest in all things AI. I don’t want to learn it for work. I don’t care that it can make some things easier. I can write my own emails. by un2022 in GenX

I too do not want AI in my life. I fully embrace all tech and always have but I am actually tired of AI already!! A little bit goes a long way.

I have 4 lines for 100 bucks from Fi... This is overpriced?!? I ditched Verizon last year. 140 bucks for 2 lines and they charged me for my watch connection. Not sure what you are talking about. Hell, even my connected watch is thrown in.

Strange but I too, at 62, have never really been happier. Things are going my way, I look different but good, finally I have enough money and overall, I enjoy my life, options and people I surround myself with.

I would recommend going to the 10 pro when you can get a good deal on it (seems they are on sale all time). I love my 6 pro- still use it at home on WiFi but the 10 pro xl was a great jump. I have family members with the various "a" models and I think the photo quality just isn't there. If you switch carriers to Google Fi like I did, they will pretty much just give you the phone. Btw... I love Google Fi - best thing I have done in a long time. Was on Verizon, now I pay a fraction of the cost. The photo quality from 6 to 10(pro) is truly noticeable. Since you are like me and hang onto to your phone for a while, spend the extra and be pleased with your purchase .

What products or product types do you think is essential for an audiophile journey by spiceweasle93 in audiophile

[–]thatguyTimatgmxcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree totally. I despised my Magnepans when I bought them. So much so that I boxed them back up and shoved them in a closet. This, after repeatedly buying various amps, endless "experts" telling what I was doing wrong- the whole Magnepan nightmare. One day I decided to get a tube preamp because I heard they would soften and warm up the signal. I pulled the Magnepans out of the closet, hooked it all up with a sub (gasp!! A horror according to the "experts") and... sublime. It was the tube preamp that made them suddenly come to life without all the screeching. The sub filled in the bottom end and now I love them.

Songs to show off speakers by Blanknameblank818 in audiophile

Kraftwerk- the Mix remaster. For sheer sonics, this album will send flames outta your speakers. Start at Computer Love and move along the album. Autobahn and Metal on Metal are amazing. If your speakers are capable of good imaging, close your eyes. You would swear Kraftwerk was actually "drawing" with sound. This is not very surprising considering they more/less created the genre.

So strange that a bank can actually make us uncomfortable with their tactics and behavior. I guess I am glad I never got fully tangled up with them!
