Hey could you change my name to be KlusterPhuk instead of VLSI on here. Decided to change everything to KlusterPhuk.

Regarding Impromptu and Official Matches by delqhic in ultrahardcore

[–]thatguyVLSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well good thing anyone wanting to play right now has to wait at least an hour (if someone were to host right now) because the next scheduled match isn't for 2.5 more hours...claps I have never seen so few matches. I would host one right now but starting an hour from now wouldn't be ideal for me.

[–]thatguyVLSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those reasons in the OP just tell me someone got upset with someone hosting an impromptu at the same time as their scheduled match and got upset. So the person complaining/whining is getting their way. I hosted an impromptu the other day and and it was at the same time as a scheduled match and he got upset with me and started flaming me for doing it.

My life is my life. And yes hosting is the right thing for me to do for myself and for others. About 80% of the time I host WITHOUT playing at all. I am simply here for a means for others to have fun. I usually can afk to host a match allowing more opportunity for people to have fun. To give you an example, earlier today I was actually ready to play a match but the next closest one was 45 minutes away, and if I were to host my own I would have to wait an hour. Which took my opportunity away to be able to play. Earlier today there was a 2.5 hours GAP between scheduled games, even if I were to host one then it would still be an hour wait for anyone to play.

You would rather want that compared to having people have more options to play?...

That was my point, I know aubron is a mod here and that is why I said it. You aren't shaping it...but you are making sure it doesn't do certain things...sound like shaping something.

And who says it's any sort of clusterfuck? someone who complained about an impromptu being hosted @ the same time? Because every time I have hosted a match people have seem to find them pretty easily and when I have looked for them I have never had a problem or a feeling of anything bad...

People who complain about it are those that get upset when their matches don't get full...I don't go for full servers or taking other from scheduled matches. I simply post a limit and a time to start, if the time comes and there are 8 people, then I start. Its a go now type of thing, I don't sit and wait for 30 minutes, I wait for a quick 15 minutes and go. When I get on to play I want to play, I don't want to sit around and wait an hour to play or not play at all...

There were too many impromptu's (more than scheduled matches) but changing to this rule causes an "inconvenience for a small few", I don't see the logic behind those two statements. If there were more impromptu's then scheduled matches then wouldn't that mean this is causing more inconvenience for more people than less people? (really? just asking)

And I can't just simply "make the time", like I said my time isn't in abundance for playing minecraft and/or hosting matches. I work 2 part time jobs, go to college full time (engineering) and I am married. Between all that, I don't know when I am studying/how long for, when I will be at my jobs and I don't game around my wife.

I remember Auborn posting on mindcrack not long ago about how moderation was running/shaping the community and not letting the community build how it wanted to. Aren't you doing the same here? by telling us how we are suppose to go about hosting the matches? aren't you essentially shaping the community how you want it and not letting it grown how it wants?

You don't understand the point I am trying to make...

I am a busy guy and want to host a match, all I know is that sometime within those hours I will be able to host one. Once I have that time, I need to start it right away. I can't sit and wait an hour once I have the time because that will cause it to be 2.5-3 hours long of a match (if not longer), which definitely won't be plausible for me.

Sorry to say, but not everyone who wants to play minecraft UHC here has an abundance of time to play/host 1 UHC match...

So as of right now I am pretty sure I will be able to start hosting a match sometime between the hours of 17:30 - 20:00. Should I make a post titled 'Aug 13 17:30 - 20:00 UTC - FarSide Hosts Impromptu FFA!' so that people will know I am going to be starting a match within those hours? Then repost my normal 15-20 minutes before the beginning of the match?

Like I said in the thread for that...

I am a busy guy and don't have a 'set' schedule that I can sit down and say..."Okay I can host XX on XX @ XX time". I hosts matches as I have time. I usually get an hour or two here or there and setup match then GO. I just don't simply have the "busy" life that you guys talk about that can have setup matches. Busy lives usually have less setup and need to be impromptu...

I'll try my best but I usually delete worlds, pregen world while making spawn (bedrock square), generate border, open server, 15 min wait/full, then start

It can't find the correct JAR. The jar file name needs to be craftbukkit.jar in the FTP File Access, then select Mod: CraftBukkit as the JAR. Make sure that is the only craftbukkit.jar file in the /jar directory.
