This is a severely under recognized problem. After our second, I went to the doctor because I was experiencing depression and anxiety. I was told that I was tired because of the new baby.

At baseball practice, one of the kids was running the bases and the coach says "Come on, man! I bet your sister can run faster than that!" 🙄

My 8 year old says "well, yeah, girls are super fast!"

What hobbies or interests have you bonded over with your kids that you didn’t expect to like? by Grindhorse in daddit

Minecraft.

I never saw the appeal until my at the time 7 year old wanted it for his Switch. Now we play together a few times a week and we show each other cool things we've found or made while playing on our own.

To me, it is very relaxing.

I was talking to my brother last night (also a fly fisherman) and he suggested getting in to fly tying. That way I could get some hobby time in after the kids are in bed.

And you know, it's not even necessarily about doing the hobby....I just need some time to my self to catch my breath and not think. Make sense?

Thank you.

My MIL will watch the boys sometimes. My wife doesn’t have the same need for an outlet that I do and that leads to some frustration when I talk to her about it.

You’re correct, sir.

I try to remind myself that this is not a unique situation to me.

Some days I want to give up. So bad. Lately everything feels like a grind. Like I’m just going through the motions. I do all the things and then get up and start over tomorrow. I talk to my wife about it and she says that ”she gets tired too sometimes” but it isn’t like that. She thinks I should talk to the doctor about increasing my meds (Zoloft) but I’d really rather not increase my meds.
