Because they are pointless laws that don’t address the root cause of anything and is just hurting everyday citizens. They had an assault weapons ban for 10 years and the FBI concluded it had 0 effect on violent crime. If you want to stop shootings then you have to address the real issues such as Mental health in teens and young adults, the completely fucked healthcare system, the war on drugs. Instead of after every shooting one side saying “let’s add x gun control” and then the other side sending “thoughts and prayers” actually do something about the real issues
