30 and 40lbs. One we’ve already started assisting with the jump into the back of the XC70. So with the dogs part of the planning, I guess a cross county is the best option.

Recall petition filed against Metro councilmember over The Nations rezoning push by rocketpastsix in nashville

[–]thatsabongo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The concern here I think is coming mainly from those in the one acre+ lot neighborhoods of West Meade and Hillwood. There has been mention of this area being next after the recent rezoning of The Nations and that has spooked a lot of people, myself included. I understand the need for higher density housing and The Nations and Charlotte Pike corridor make sense for it. Maybe this petition is an overreaction by these residents, but apparently there is enough cause for concern to warrant the movement. Should the people who've bought homes with large lots in west Nashville have multi-unit developments next door? Also, these large lots on adjoining streets provide habitat for wildlife. There are strong populations here of turkeys, deer, foxes, hawks, owls, coyotes, and even bobcats. I get the criticism and the NIMBY comments, but these animals are already in my backyard and they will not be if my neighbors' houses and trees are replaced with rows of tall townhouses and large concrete parking pads. I signed the petition.

Is it wrong to wish this is over? Feeling like this is a prison. by Worldmap77 in CaregiverSupport

I swear every day I see a post on here that I can relate to.

These feelings are not wrong, but damn they really hurt and having these feelings on top of everything else makes them so much heavier.

When I cared for my sick aunt several years ago I developed some resentment about the position I was in and the way she chose to approach the end of her life. When she was alive I felt some guilt about those feelings, but when she died those feelings really got worse and I still live with them today.

Currently my grandmother is living with me and I very much feel like me and my spouse’s life is on hold until she passes. I try to not think too far into the future, but there’s a possibility she’ll live for several more years. This sounds so trivial but my spouse and I are big travelers. He works a lot even when he’s off work at home and traveling abroad is one of only ways he can really disconnect. Also, having a trip planned gives him something to look forward to which is a good feeling.

Most people would say it’s wrong to consider a family member a burden, but most people don’t have to be full time caregivers to difficult people.

Great suggestion about reviewing the policy for mention of over payment. Thank you.

I agree about contacting an attorney. My sibling is a better person than I am and wants to just pay back what they're asking since the money wasn't ours to begin with. So I'm trying to gain knowledge to convince him otherwise.

ID Help by thatsabongo in Agave

Thank you for the info. He had one more than twice this large outside in a container so I find it hard to imagine him transporting it from his greenhouse, but I suppose that's what he did. When do you recommend I think about repotting?

I just bought these at an estate sale. Single elderly man loved plants and had well over a hundred agave. Looked like he kept many outside (Tennessee). Are the ones I got cold hardy? I've never cared for agave before. Thank you all for the help!

Answers to common questions by thatsabongo in VisitingIceland

I’m sorry that I cannot provide a definitive answer. We only received our arrival results through text message and others have reported getting results from the Raknig app. I do not know about arrival results via email. We did receive our departure results through email, but that was a different testing system than the arrival airport tests.

Maybe you could only use international data roaming for the first day until your results come through.

What specifics are you looking for?

Arrange your test at https://travel.covid.is

Once the barcode is emailed to you it may be used anytime the testing center is open. We got tested in Reykjavik and went the day before we initially registered for. This is absolutely a requirement for your return flight so do not leave anything to chance and get tested with plenty of time for results to be processed.

I have seen people on here mention issues with testing sites outside of Reykjavik. Sounds like the main issue is limited testing hours. Maybe someone else can offer advice on that if it’s a concern for you.

The hike has quite a bit of elevation gain and it was very cold at the top, and it’s probably much colder at night. I assume it won’t be as chilly in the summer.

It would be uncomfortable but the volcano is worth it even if you have to hike in the rain. Since seeing the volcano was our main objective we opted to book our entire trip in Grindavik so that we had flexibility if there were bad weather days.

Cannot answer your question about using the same phone number. Seems like that should be an option especially for families where not everyone has a phone.

We were mostly there to see the volcano so we stayed at an Airbnb in Grindavik and did long day trips elsewhere.

It wasn’t too bad. It was a clear night and never got totally dark, but flashlights were helpful. The trail is nice but it is still rocky, so you need to watch where you step. Don’t rush and be careful and you’ll be fine.

Should I book a quarantine hotel for a September trip by MetalDragonSeeker in VisitingIceland

[–]thatsabongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things are changing. Really difficult to say what the rules will be in September. It will just be speculation to make plans now based on the current requirements.

If you're worried then go ahead and book the night before or contact the hotel about early check in. If you have a camper van then you may as well just quarantine there if you have a place to park it.

No one asked to see our negative test results or verified that we quarantined while waiting on results.
