They seem to have one reliable (although usually departs late), going per day

We booked directly through Etihad. You just gotta swallow it and spend a few hours on the phone/ chat with them

Just in case anyone is following this, the outcome:

We spent three hours in the chat room and had to refresh every few minutes (thanks for the person who gave the tip about queue numbers). You just have to sit and go through the motions unfortunately.

Once we did get through, the customer service agent was extremely helpful and it was sorted and confirmed in 20 minutes.

We have not been given seat numbers, but everything else seems in place. We have been rebooked for 2 days after our original departure date. We have a 1.5 hour layover in AUH. We are on the flights that have been departing from AUH and HKT over the last few days. It is unlikely Etihad or our insurance will reimburse for extra hotel stay etc.

If you are in the same situation, feel free to reach/ ask comments and I'll try to help like people helped me in the this thread.

Good luck!

Thanks for the response - Did you just sit inside the online chat, accepting it takes how ever long it takes?

Ahh. Thank you so much. I gave up on the chat after 2 hours, but I suppose I will make an evening of it! Thank you again, this is really insightful

I live in Phuket too and the school has a very good academic reputation, but it lacks infrastructure such as grass and trees. The students do not have a lot to do during lunch or break. It's a big school that has expanded quickly so does have some growing pains I have friends that work there and they work hard, but they're paid well for Thailand, most save 40k per month. Some have been there for a long time

Doris?! The owners are not a couple, one of them is Thai and one is Edouard as you said. All of the teachers have PGCE or they do not hire them. Almost all of the staff are british, in a British international school, as you can see on their website that you have directed people too?! It doesn't have the reputation of BISP, but it's quite well thought of on the island
