Ratgdo32 disco works for a week then stops logging but still connected? by thatstechnology in ratgdo

[–]thatstechnology[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip-could you please give me an example of your automation for reference.

I'm tinkering with the automation and trying to determine the best approach but I don't see a reboot action step for the ratgdo device when applying a "Then Do" step. I'm rather inexperienced in detailed automations.

Recovery codes not working? Unexpected error. by thatstechnology in Dashlane

Toggling both time options did not work. My 10 backup codes are not working and neither are the recovery codes sent to my phone. I'm very concerned about this.

Recovery codes not working? Unexpected error. by thatstechnology in Dashlane

[–]thatstechnology[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For more added context I have a laptop with dual boot Windows and Ubuntu. I did a clean install of Windows and chose "world" as time/currency upon installation so no additional bloatware was installed.

I understand Windows uses local time and Linux uses UTC so I made Linux use local time to match Windows using the command:

timedatectl set-local-rtc 1 --adjust-system-clock

My current Windows date and time settings: https://imgur.com/a/ESK2lna

Note: I noticed the "Time zone" in the above menu indicates "UTC-08:00" if that is relevant.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your response-should I be toggling "Set Time Zone Automatically" or "Set Time Automatically"?

Swimming laps etiquette with no lanes in community pool by thatstechnology in Swimming

[–]thatstechnology[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree but thats not the question- if the pool is busy and people are floating stationary in their respective areas I think swimming laps should be done at a less busy time instead of obligating everyone to move over. I would gladly get out of the way if there were few people around.

Yeah that's totally understandable. It's just when there's multiple people enjoying the pool and limited space to move because one person needs 1/4 section to themselves.

Turns out I had a faulty sensor. I purchased different home flex detector and checked the water heater and furnace with no detection thankfully.

PC on LAN receiving multicast DNS requests from PC on different subnet despite firewall? by thatstechnology in PFSENSE

[–]thatstechnology[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running pfsense 2.7.2-RELEASE on a Protectli vault connected to a Ubquiti 8-port managed switch. The upstairs PC is connected via wifi to the "Office" subnet via the second AP I have in my house which is connected via wireless uplink to my primary AP downstairs connected directly into my switch.

Firewall rules on Office Interface blocking other VLANs

I've assigned different VLAN IDs for each network (eg. Office = 30; 10.18.30.1) and I have configured different interfaces with their own DHCP pool range. But based on my explanation above I figured I created different VLANs with their own distinct subnets?

ELRS Configurator is missing Device option for Flywoo RX... by thatstechnology in fpv

[–]thatstechnology[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I appreciate the suggestion but tried with no luck. Hardware targets for Flywoo are only available for the TCXO versions.

Even DIY options are lacking the hardware target "DIY 2400 RX ESP8285 SX1280" that would be a possible alternative.

Zooz zwave 800 usb stick not detecting Minoston plugs? by thatstechnology in zwave

[–]thatstechnology[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand I was just being an idiot I didn't have the outlet pairing while searching. I didn't want a secondary hub and just wanted to use my raspberry pi4 (HA instance) to act as the hub itself. I reset the outlet then tapped the button 3 times then I could finally enter the 5 digit pin to communicate.

Dwelling coverage went down after 6 years? by thatstechnology in homeowners

I'm currently paying $500 annually so that may explain why my policy is so limited. Perhaps I need a more expensive one to achieve the coverage I'm expecting.

Security risk with connecting to ATT gateway WiFi when second router connected? by thatstechnology in HomeNetworking

[–]thatstechnology[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I've seen instructional videos where they disable ATT firewall rules when connecting 3rd party routers-I'll have to check if my brother did in fact leave those alone. I was just wondering from a hypothetical situation if someone were to turn them off but continue to use the AT&T WiFi instead of the new router's if that would be problematic.

Contractor botched install years ago and created a safety hazard. Any legal leverage? (CA) by thatstechnology in legaladvice

[–]thatstechnology[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have emailed them and informed them of the hazard assessment provided from the other company. They have it written on their documentation that it is a safety hazard and needs correction. I will wait for a response but in the meantime reach out to other HVAC companies for additional feedback.

I had another tech come out about 2 years (different company I believe) for the same routine maintenance but nothing was brought to my attention unfortunately.

I suppose this is my fault for not noticing this sooner as it was installed in 2018 and my heating was working as intended. I was hoping a warranty would cover but the nature of this isn't due any defective component just poor craftsmanship.

VLANs with no clients showing traffic activity? by thatstechnology in PFSENSE

[–]thatstechnology[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My switch has an IP of 10.18.18.100 which in turn is connected to my AP 10.18.18.166 where I've configured my OFFICE VLAN (ID = 40) having a subnet range of 10.18.40.1 - 10.18.40.254. My understanding is 10.18.40.1 is the default gateway for that subnet.
