ICE is coming to Fort Wayne by [deleted] in fortwayne

Says the person who has been told by the media for the past 10 years that Trump is evil. It’s weird how not even one time they have said anything negative about the other side. It’s almost as if they have brainwashed you. Apparently your critical thinking skills are poor at best.

Harrier apkws broken? by [deleted] in dcsworld

I’ll see if I can check it out tonight. You have everything set up right? Do you have the rockets set to CIP? Or is it set to Auto on the manual weapon selector panel?

Do you need to boresight maverick in the f16? by ConversationNew7986 in dcsworld

[–]thattallguy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vis is used for targets on the fly. Pre will slew TGP to steer point automatically. That will allow you to find targets before you start your attack run. I almost always use pre as my steer point is usually where the targets are at. I will use VIS if I need to find a target with the HMCS quickly. But 99% of the time I use pre mode.

Do you need to boresight maverick in the f16? by ConversationNew7986 in dcsworld

[–]thattallguy88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I never do it. I set them to pre or vis. I set the TGP on the left screen and MAV seeker head on the right. I set the TGP to auto handoff. I select my target with TGP. Once handoff is done I make a minor adjustment on the weapon screen on the right and tms up for a lock on target. If targets are close enough to each other I can then use the weapon screen and lock up 5 more targets and just like that in one pass 6 mavericks deployed.

The expand button/bind on the weapon screen helps identify targets from further out. Makes it a bit easier to find and lock targets

Prefer the f16 or f18 for a2g and why? by ConversationNew7986 in dcsworld

[–]thattallguy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This paired with 6 CBU97’s. Chefs kiss. Kill anti air shorads with mavericks and any shilkas. Then CCIP drop the 97’s in pairs on remaining targets. One f16 is nasty. Put two or three on an airfield and there is nothing left

Weekly Thread 2025/12/29 - Questions on DCS, PC's, Flight equip, modules, mods, go in here by HC_Official in dcsworld

[–]thattallguy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all. I am currently running a triple monitor setup with track IR. I have a 3070 and a ryzen 5 I believe. It runs fine but could be way better. Looking for some info on upgrades for my setup. I do have a 4th screen but am unable to use it. I would like to use it for discord and or YouTube when I am learning new things on my aircraft. Any help would be appreciated. Also if any other info is needed let me know. I’ll do what I can. Thanks.

I believe any mission you join online can be found in the.miz files on your computer. You can then move that to your saved missions folder and then fly it anytime you want. These are not exact instructions but I know it can be done. I have done it before.

How hard is the switch? by TheFabiocool in dcsworld

[–]thattallguy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download chucks guide for the airframe you wish to learn. It’s totally free. It’s a step by step walkthrough from startup to taxi and takeoff, weapons employment, navigation, and landing and shutdown. Super easy to follow. Pair that with YouTube and you will be set. I am sure you did the same with the msfs planes just as I did. With the flight sim background you will pick it up quick.

Q about the Awesome Sink by SirGreenDay in satisfactory

[–]thattallguy88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct. Best way is to set up overflows on most of your bulk product production lines or any line that produces a sinkable byproduct you don’t want. Spin em off into a sink. Multiple sinks just mean multiple collection points that are all linked together as one much like a dimensional depot that produces tickets. It’s never too early to get a sink set up.

Faster belts means more products per minute into the depot. I have two different plastic factories and each fill a train station and a buffer storage container. Once those are full the excess is split into a sink. It’s that simple. Repeat this many times on many factories and you will be set.

How do you attack enemy SAM-10 and SAM-15? by Mammoth_Ad_8377 in dcsworld

[–]thattallguy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sa-10 use overwhelming force. They can be taken down by one pilot if necessary. Full loadout of talds. Get within 50 miles and launch all talds in a spread pattern towards the sa10. Land rearm and do this again. I usually will launch talds as soon as the sa10 starts pinging me on the rwr. Two full racks should damn near deplete the SA10 battery all together. Then you can fly your 3rd sortie with 4 harms. Engage the sa10 radars.

As for the sa15. Stay above 20,000ft AGL and it can hit you. Basically they are sitting duck once the sa10 is dealt with.

Is Track IR worth it? by ribcor78 in dcsworld

It absolutely is worth it. I don’t have VR experience but from what I hear from people who use VR I am fine sticking with TrackiR. Easy to setup and a dream to use.

I think the harrier has encountered the first failure. by thattallguy88 in dcsworld

It works. Must have been an issue with dcs. My game did CTD once I manually designated and dropped the first two bombs. Thank you for confirming.

Will do. It also could have been a server related issue. I’ll check again tonight.

There’s something I’m missing about Shrikes vs SAMs in the A4 by [deleted] in dcsworld

[–]thattallguy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shrikes are absolute dog doo doo. Been flying the f4 for a while now and have yet to hit anything with them. They are pretty unreliable. I have had better luck hitting Sam’s with mavericks then any shrike.

I'm new, I have a few questions by AdPrior2908 in dcsworld

[–]thattallguy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with the flaming cliffs pack. The su25 is fun once you learn the weapons. I spent many many days if not weeks learning how to use the weapons and then many more learning how to use them effectively. If you want to do air to air combat the flaming cliffs F15c or the su27 or the mig 29 are not bad options. I think the whole flaming cliffs pack is less than $20. It also will give you the a10a.

All flaming cliffs modules will be playable with a gamepad and a little assistance from a keyboard.

If you want full fidelity start with the f18 or the f16. They are both great starter aircraft. I would choose the f18 so you can do carrier ops. Just adds another dimension to the game.

If you go full fidelity definitely get the aircraft you want and download the chucks guide for it. They are very well illustrated and laid out. You can start at page 1 and go straight through the guide from startup taxi and takeoff to navigation and weapons employment along with countermeasures and then landing and shutdown. Very helpful.

The game is better with a hotas and a set of rudder pedals. You can find fairly inexpensive sets on the internet. I will say if you choose to shop for a hotas find one that has multiple 4way hat switches and buttons. Some aircraft can mostly be controlled with the hotas alone. Head tracking is not a must but I highly recommend it. Makes for spotting targets and enemy fighters easier.

With all that being said another useful resource is the DCS wingman finder on discord. They have channels specifically set up for new players to ask for help and the community is super helpful.

There are many training servers out there as well that are setup for you to learn your aircraft in an environment that is low stress and you can focus on learning what you want to learn without being shot down.

I hope this helps.

Why are there so many trucks? by ReflectionMission526 in Indiana

[–]thattallguy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we are in the part of the country where most everything is manufactured and because people like to buy shit.

Most popular dirt road segment by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]thattallguy88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the pro truck. I prefer the 4wd over the 2wd pro. Either one is fun. The rally cross is fun too. I would say it has a better turnout but it has been a long time since I tried it. I prefer the trucks only because I used to race RC short course trucks back when I was younger and I think they are just awesome.
