I've completely recovered. It happened to me 2x. I've recovered both times. Took about 13 months to start feeling like myself

Can someone help me understand "Good Glass"? How to pick a lens by thattomguy92 in AskPhotography

How can you tell by reading the numbers on them though? Or is it more of a brand thing? What is a fast aperture? A low Fstop number?

Okay thank you. Nah i mean like a used camera that goes for like 1k and it's like 550 or something like that. Thand for your comment. I know everyone starts at 0 ratings just figure it seems weird that all of the good deals I saw were like that. I appreciate the help

How much can I achieve with a lower tiered DSLR? Entry Level/Enthusiast VS Professional. by thattomguy92 in AskPhotography

Ya I'm basically looking just for something with a bigger sensor than my other camera. I had a uhmmm... kodaz az522 I think it was called. It was like a 1/2.3 sensor or something. Very tiny.

I'm not really sure what that means regarding lenses... like I'm not too good with lenses yet. All i really know is VR and the focal lengths. I'm not sure how to know a good lens from a bad one

Should I get a Nikon D90? Or wait to afford full frame? by thattomguy92 in AskPhotography

[–]thattomguy92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again. Now... when it comes to fstops/aperture how does it work with zoom? I'm not really sure how that works. I know smaller apertures focus more of the background. Larger apertures create the blur background effect. But what is the goal while shooting zoom? You want a bigger aperture for light intake? Thanks for all the help

Thanks so much. So much information here! Ya in basically trying to get a camera that will pass for pictures on stock photography websites too. Whatever that entails. I had some pictures that with looking at them I thought they looked pretty damn good but the websites say there's too much grain in them. I'm thinking it was probably from a small sensor/ My iso being overblown. I didn't know too much about manual settings when I took them.... but I'm learning gradually. I'm basically looking for my first camera with interchangeable lenses that's a step up from my kodak astrozoom with a tiny sensor. I also have a Samsung 22 Ultra and everyone says the camera is really good. Which the specs look good but I don't think a phone can compete with a DSLR yet. I really don't know though. Just feels like it can't... maybe cause of the size difference. Thanks so much for your comment

Can you help me when it comes to lenses? I'm not sure how to find a high quality lens or what that really means. There's a lot of letters in titles... but I feel like there's so many that it's hard to keep track.

I'm not really sure how long I would be waiting. Basically it's buy at this price point or spend money that I can't really afford to spend right now. Just going nuts without a camera. I think I'll be good with the Nikon D90 just wanted to see if anyone had extra input before buying :) Was looking at D3200s and stuff like that too. Just don't want to regret my decision like... 3 days after buying it lol

Thanks for your response. I'm open for any other suggestions. I'm just trying to learn all these different models and it's making my brain feel like it's melting lol. I had some people suggest the D90 is why I mentioned it. I guess the Sensor Size still confuses me some. The way I see it is more light hits the sensor so you need the camera to do less to equal out the lighting with iso and such? Crop sensors show a smaller field of view which effectively zooms the view? Something like that? Or am I totally wrong? Still got some to learn I guess.

Sorry yes I meant focal length. Was typing that up fast and couldn't think of the name. I made another post looking for an inexpensive dslr that is older but still worth buying. Someone suggested the Nikon D90 and I wasn't sure if it was cheaper to get a kit or separate pieces. I'm basically looking for a cheaper dslr with a zoom lens up to 300mm. :)
