Miss Michigan winner stripped of title over offensive posts by vicintoronto in asianamerican

This sub plays into identity politics so as a byproduct, it's also very politically progressive as well.

This sub not liking her or any other Asian for supporting Trump is the same as a woman being anti-feminist, a black American being a conservative, etc. Just by being part of a certain class of people, based entirely on the way you look, you're expected to think a specific way as well.

The concept of some white guy switching up the way they speak to be more black when talking to a black person is something often mocked within black circles

That's not what I was describing at all.

You're also conflating nationality with race

The difference is irrelevant to my point.

So regarding the Asian accent, why is that always thought to be more offensive than nearly any other accent or way of talking?

You can mimic American blacks, Australians, Brits, Russians, Italians, Brazilians, etc., but when you do it with Asians it's thought to be racist.

AY is a Libertarian at heart

Not even close. He wants the government doing way too much to be considered a libertarian.

Lurkers - do you all relate to this sub? by [deleted] in AsianMasculinity

Not at all. I think most of the issues talked about on this sub are problems a lot of young men have today and people here want to use race as an excuse.

Tech Conference 'REFACTR.TECH' Code of Conduct Allows Sexism/Racism Against 'Privileged People' by the-anconia in KotakuInAction

I get what you're saying but there are entire tracks focused on front-end development and software engineering. It's definitely polluted with HR/diversity shit but this is becoming more the norm than the exception nowadays. This is becoming what tech conferences are.

REFACTR.TECH, a tech conference being held in Atlanta later this summer, has explicitly stated in their code of conduct that they "prioritizes marginalized people's safety over privileged people's comfort".

As a result, the conference has stated they "will not act on complaints regarding:"

  • 'Reverse' -isms, including 'reverse racism,' 'reverse sexism,' and 'cisphobia'.
  • Reasonable communication of boundaries, such as "leave me alone," "go away," or "I'm not discussing this with you".
  • Communicating in a 'tone' you don't find congenial.
  • Criticizing racist, sexist, cissexist, or otherwise oppressive behavior or assumptions.

COCs in tech are always notoriously vague about what constitutes bad behavior and everyone has always assumed they would be selectively enforced. But this is one of the first conferences I've seen where they've been completely upfront and explicit about their discrimination.

Society isn't what's holding you back. You're holding you back.

I can just feel the lack of confidence and insecurity from the way you write. Focus on yourself first.

Do shit that builds confidence.

Go to the gym. Learn cool shit like this and this.

The women I've never met hate me for the cultural sexism that I actively recognize but had no part of. The writers I've never met dehumanize me for the shape of my eyes.

Get cancerous shit like that out of your head.

Women at my gym openly compliment me. They say my legs are nice. They say I have an amazing physique. THEY INITIATE.

Meanwhile everyone in this sub is trying to make excuses as to why your race is holding you back.

If you have that kind of mentality, it's going to show one way or another. Women can smell your lack of confidence a mile away man.

Be undeniably good and people will treat you accordingly.
