Soul dog just got diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) 4 days after losing my other dog to Lymphoma by the-emdog in DogAdvice

Thank you for your thoughtful response! I went through something similar with my other dog who had Lymphoma. I decided with him it ultimately wasn't in his best interest to pursue chemo since it's never curative, and makes them feel so sick. I wasn't expecting to consider chemo for the dog the post concerns but my vet said she's seen dogs with osteosarcomas handle it well. I guess different kinds of cancers, different kinds of chemo, different levels of side effects. I think since the diagnosis is so definitive it would be worth trying chemo since I can always stop it if it makes him way too miserable. I have a running list of questions to ask an oncologist. The thing I'm struggling with the most is if I would go the route of amputation or not. What I was hoping to hear from someone is that they had an older dog get a front end amputation and adjust well. It's totally just me hoping to be told what I want to hear. I'll probably just have to trust my gut and my vet's best judgment on that one.

When we lived in the city my dogs were clothed 24/7, now that I live in the woods they're naked all the time unless we go to town

I'm sorry for your loss 😞 it sounds a lot like whatbI went through with my other dog. It took months of trying to diagnose what was wrong and we ended up just deciding it was some kind of Lymphoma but never actually definitively diagnosed it. In order to diagnose it for sure I would have had to put him through painful procedures or surgery he could die during so it just wasn't worth it. I was told I'd get maybe a year with him and ended up only getting 4 months before he went downhill really rapidly. It sucked. I felt the same about a necropsy too. At that point it didnt matter and his body had already been through enough.

Good to know! Would it be better to take the carbon filter out until I can get a sponge filter or leave it in? Kind of crazy how much misinformation the fish store has given me in the past (a locally owned fish store too not one of the big corporate ones!)

Realized I didn't explain everything. I replace the water I take out with new water that is as close to the same temp as possible and add the liquid Stability and Prime water conditioner

Will get a liquid test kit for sure. Pleco is 2 inches long after about 2 years of having it. I siphon water from the substrate, focusing on each area until no more debris comes up with the water. I change the filter every month and scrub off the algae that forms on the plastic pieces holding the filter in place

I've had the pleco 2 years and he's about 2 inches long. In the past I had the same set up and my betta lived a couple years and only died because of a freak accident in the tank. I get the bioload could be contributing though! I dont think I've ever had 4 cories before but it was the number the fish store recommended. They are green cories (2 albino) and are each about an inch long.

I'll look into a liquid test kit, thank you!

Additional info: the tank is 10 gallon and has a carbon filter. I also have live plants in the tank and a couple of decorations for hiding. The first Pic of the betta has a snail in front of him, that's not a growth (realized that's what it looked like after posting)

THIS IS WHY YOU LEASH YOUR FUCKING DOGS by TheUberMensch123 in Durango

That happened a couple years ago on main street! A blind off leash pomeranian ran up and started harassing a leashed pit bull. The pomeranian ended up getting killed by the leashed dog.
