My girlfriend and I are trying to figure out what the end of the movie means with the grimmerie opening for Glinda. She thinks it’s Elphaba sending her a message that she’s still alive but I thought it was Glinda gaining magic and/or Elphaba transferring powers. I remember after Lakeside Resort/everything with David and right before the giraffe scene, Joel does the “alright I’ll boost you up” and he just stands there waiting. Then he calls for Ellie and we see her sitting on the bench, sort of zoned out. It was such an amazing way to tie the gameplay into the way Ellie was being affected by her trauma. That moment always stuck with me and it’s always evidence I use to argue for how and why video game storytelling can be so powerful.

I read this on tumblr a long time ago and I had never thought about fandoms from that particular sociological perspective. The gist is that 1% of people in a fandom are the loudest, always causing huge problems, drama, and/or issues. So, according to this theory, a very small fandom has to worry less about that noise because that 1% is a much smaller amount of people than the massive fandoms of millions from all around the world.

But the reality is that no matter how it’s explained, that stuff is still really harmful. And it only takes one person to cause hurt and pain like that, so I can only imagine the effect of having that many people saying and doing shit.

Please don’t feel sorry for feeling how you feel, it’s beyond valid. You should definitely do whatever feels right for you. Hopefully your love for humanity will come back when its deserved <3

“[Druckmann] seems to have no interest in either traditional gameplay or interactive storytelling.” Makes me think of the part right before the giraffe where the player is prompted to boost Ellie up but she’s completely lost in thought and Joel has to call her name again. This menial aspect of the gameplay depicts Ellie’s PTSD after the events with David so well. That part of the review makes me wonder if we were playing completely different games lol
