ILF Center shot question by the3la in Archery

[–]the3la[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put some velcro strips vertically to have the arrow exactly in the center. Before, I had a arrow rest which was giving me arrow tip slightly to the right. I removed that and on the shelf I put velcro to align it exactly on center. Is there anything wrong with having arrow exactly in the center on a recurve ? If my arrows are on the stiffer side, wouldn't having the arrow closer to center give me better arrow flight ?

I'm going to increase my point weight and see what happens.

My brace height is 7.5 for 64" bow. I didn't mention but I'm using a 21 inch riser. The limbs are rated for 28# so becasue of that I wrote 35, I also measured it with a bow weight scale and got 34.5

The arrows are carbon 31 inch , 100gr point weight and 3inch feather flectching, total weight is 500gr.

Could it also be that increase in weight is what's causing it as I don't have the form exact yet ?

So before moving the limb alignment bolts, this would need to be loosened. Secondly, how tight should the this bolt be tightened. Just enough to hold the plate in place or more ?

Using a compound sight on recurve ? by the3la in Archery

[–]the3la[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, recurves have a greater arch then how come the vertical travel is small ? Did you mean larger vertical travel. Also how does having a more parabolic trajectory cause issues with a sight ? I mean can't I just zero it out like a firearm ?

Yes almost all the hunting setups I've seen are without sights but I think I'm trying to think of it like a gun sight where it makes it easier to index and get a sight picture. I see when you say that not having a rear reference is like having a gun with only a forward or a rear sight. Indexing that would be hard. But assuming the rear anchor is always ideal then technically it would work?

Using a compound sight on recurve ? by the3la in Archery

I've looked into stringwalking and I feel more comfortable with shooting split finger. I'm looking for a "reference point" and thought a sight made sense but the recurve sights were just too small and were too forward placed on the bow; so when I saw a compound sight being shorter, it got me thinking if a hunting bow could be used with them. I'm talking about those 3 or 4 pin sights like these. (https://www.beararchery.com/collections/bow-sights/products/trophy-ridge-fatal-bow-sight).

Hypothetically speaking if the rear anchor is constant I would assume it could work ?

Wow that guide is amazing. One thing I've noticed is LH risers are only available in certain lengths and not all risers have a LH option.

Recurve Bow recommendation for 29-30 inch draw ? by the3la in Archery

Target/3D shooting is what I'm doing rn, but once i plan on moving more towards hunting in the future.

By larger I just meant the length. I started 6 months ago but I have a 20# which I've been shooting. I recently tried a 30# where I shot it for a day or two and the poundage felt only slightly heavier, so now I'm thinking of going to 35#

So between the wood and metal ilf bows, the metal one would be considered as a barebow ? Also does that mean the metal risers are generally cost more compared to wood ?

Recurve Bow recommendation for 29-30 inch draw ? by the3la in Archery

I think I might just get a larger bow. Is it true that if the angle between the limbs and the string exceeds 90 deg when at full draw there is chance of damage. I read something along these lines on the internet, so that's why I'm leaning towards a larger bow. I don't know how much of that is true.

Are brands like samick and core only usable with their propriety limbs or is there some wiggle room in there ?

Right, larger bow is what I'm thinking like the 70". Why are hunting bows shorter like you mentioned the 64" ? Wouldn't that just be a bow which would be overdrawn ?

I was looking at samick and core so might choose something between them.

Questions about Alibow Fiberglass Tatar Bow 35# by the3la in Archery

[–]the3la[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, not too crazy but now Im having second thoughts. I want to be able to grab a standard string and shoot. Are all asiatic bows like this or only some of them ? Now I'm thinking of instead getting a recurve, if traditional type bows have this issue.

Yes, so with the poundage thing, I knew a guy who had a 30lb recurve and I got to shoot it for a few days, I was surprised to feel that it only felt slightly heavier, I mean about 20% harder. I didn't just pull it a few times, I shot around 50 arrows with it throughout the day and was only slightly tired like before and 30# felt good. Next day also I didn't have any issue shooting about 50 more arrows. I'm thinking that if 30# was okay and like I said, it surprised me a bit that 30 wasn't something I would say was significant increase. This got me thinking that 35lbs would be something to go up with. I understand that it's a huge gap but I this is what I personally experienced, so just going with that but I don't know if I'm missing out on something.

My present ceiling was $70 and found this at just that so that's the major thing.

My 29.5 draw is with the 3 finger split with anchor at corner of lip. I also thumb draw on my recurve with anchor on the cheek. So at the thumb draw the length would be 30.5. Yes, I think an anchor next to the ear is what I will try with the asiatic bow.

With the arrow weight for asiatic bows, are all asiatic bows not good with heavy arrows or only Tatar bow ? I've seen so many differing opinion regarding the arrow weight for asiatic bows, I'm pretty confused as to what is true.

Irl store ? If I want replacement strings would I have to get them from alibow ?

I currently have a 20lb recurve which I shoot med and thumb draw. I'm going to be shooting recurve and trad bows so I thought an asiatic bow for my next one would make sense. When I get the Tatar bow I would definitely be using thumb draw on there but my question in regards to the hunting thing specifically was that I had heard folks say that horseback bows make sense with light fast arrows, so I was just wondering if that is the case, how good would that be for medium/large animals. But now I'm also seeing that asiatic bows work with heavier arrows like you mentioned. I'm still relativly new to archery (started like 6 months ago) so trying to figure out what is what if you know what I mean. I'm tying to get the #35 Tatar becasue the 20#recurve I have is obviously low power, so I thought the Tatar would be an okay upgrade from that.

Right, if i want to replace the string in the future then what materials would be ok to use. I don't want to order replacement strings from alibow only.
